 Imperfect Northmen
« Thread Started on Dec 16, 2009, 5:01pm »

A cold wind sweeps from the northern land, dragon-prowed ships swiftly cut through the waves, bells ring from coastal monasteries warning local villagers and farms. The cry goes out, "Beware, the Northmen have arrived!"
:D

This set includes a Northman Clan Leader, 10 Northmen warriors, a Maiden of the Bow, and a Sword Maiden. Everything you need to loot a local farmstead or hamlet.

You are one prolific (if not consistent)
paper figure designer mate. And your hand drawn
designs are excellent. They embody a lot of
character and you exhibit a wealth of knowledge
for variety and nuance.

Thank you so much for sharing your work
with all of us.

My hat's off to ya mate!

How do you read my mind? I'm just beginning a campaign set in northern faerun (Forgotten Realms Setting) and some regions are heavily inspired by norse culture. Those will sure help a lot. I'll be using some of them next session with some modification to transform them into Frost Folk Raiders (From Raiders of The Black Ice, an old Dungeon Magazine adventure).

I am pleased the Northmen met with people's approval. They were the last set of pieces designed for the story I've been running. Finally all caught up.
:)
Of course now I will have to either take a break or brainstorm up some other set. I generally don't do creatures (the Camels and Elementals were an experiment), so it will end up people of an as of yet undecided theme.
::)
Anyway, enjoy the Holidays,

;D

P.S. Tabris, check out the Imperfect Raiders for more "Cold Folk" types.

Printing everything. Thanks for the help.

And it would be perfect if you could do some characters related to my campaign and some more classic RPG settings.

Longboats;

http://www.elfwood.com/~tombutler/longship_1.3294490.html
http://www.elfwood.com/~tombutler/Viking_ship_model_page_2.3294489.html

I can't find the link at the moment, but at one point there was a large, 28mm scale, well done longship that was designed with the intention of being used for tabletop gaming. I'll see if I can dig it up tomorrow,

The norseman are really cool. Thanks alot again Dryw. with your minis now I can stage adventure in many more cultures in my campaign world. Its a kind like xmas to me.

As an inspiration for your next set: how about a far east of kung-fu monks, samurais, ashigarus, asian civilians (eg, rice farmers or geishas?)

BTW: does anyone know where to get a paper model viking house? Thanks.

Found the ship;
http://www.dungeoncrawlers.com/download/17/

It was originally designed by the Paperforge for use with Mage Knight, now it's hosted by Dungeon Crawlers.
;D

Buildings? Like the ones in this pic? (sorry they're hard to see);

I'll see about digging those up.

edit> Peter Fitzpatrick made those little "Grubenhaus", and they are now here;

Loved the long boats. Seems like my players will be facing amphibious landing very soon.

THANKS to everyone for posting the links to ships (I made mine modifying World Works boats) and the houses. Both are very useful.
