It shouldn't be too much longer til these are released. Nik is already working on getting them ready. Depending on how things go, I would say a week or two, but I can't give any exact deadline.

I have begun work on some dwarves with ranged weapons. Those should be done as soon as I am reasonably able.

I'm not sure it will take quite that long...

Whoa! Dwarves! I thought I heard mining noises coming from the cellar. Great looking work here. Toonk and Borri would be proud to see how their offspring have developed.

Okay, I don't have a Paypal account and I am finding no way to actually purchase these wonderful Dwarves. I get directed to a page that asks me to click a button if I have a Paypal account and it gives no other option. Any suggestions other than opening a Paypal account (which I have no intention of doing)?

Paypal should let you use a credit card without having to have an account if I remember correctly.

Will their be slayers in this range?????
I suppose they'd match the Bellicose berserkers wouldn't they?

How about a stone thrower and bolt thrower?

Nope. It demands that I create a Paypal account even to use my credit card.
:(
Looks like no Dwarves for now. Too bad they're not on RPGNow.

Yeah, the way the webstore works requires a paypal account because of the redirection requirements from Paypal (they won't automatically redirect a purchase if a credit card was used and therefore the webstore won't link the payment and purchase). If you want you can send a check and I'll email you the set but that seems old fashioned.

I picked them up today, and they look great.

The download hung on the first try at .2 Megs, but I tired a second time and it worked fine.

The work continues. I am nearly done with the dwarves bearing ranged weaponry. The set will include 6 dwarves with crossbows, and 6 with handcannons.

Ok, so I still have a bit more to do, but all the fronts are done. I just have to do the backs. I tried a different method this time around thinking it would save me some time, but it ended up taking longer than ever, so I will try to simplify my process. It seems like each time it takes me longer and longer to complete sets, so I need to simplify so that I can get sets done faster.

Enough chatter. Here's a preview:

Labrat, I know everyone here is anxiously awaiting your figs, and you probably want to move on too, but it seems to me one of the things that burnt Big Jim out was trying to "industrialise" his process so he could "crank out" high volumes of figures that were in high demand. It is a good "buisness model" but there is also "art" involved here. Give yourself a chance to breath and accept that quality takes time. If your process frustrates you then you should change it, but don't try to become a printing machine.

Just my two cents. I came to this realisation lately about some wood working I was doing. If I sold it for a price that would compete with stuff from China, I'd be paying myself a few dollars an hour. I have to slow down and get it right. If I go comercial I'll compete on quality, not price.

I totally agree CL. But even more frustrating is when it takes far longer than I think it should. Sometimes I spend many hours, and it feels like I haven't really accomplished anything yet. I'm just looking for a happy medium. Good quality that doesn't take forever. I don't want the quality to suffer. It's mostly just the process I'm working on.

I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Well, at least you aren't me... spending FOREVER making stuff that looks like sub-standard garbage! :D

Oh, well... it will all work out! I for one would rather wait a while and get great stuff, then to get a new set each week and have it look... well, like something I would produce.

You are a great artist, and your work is worth the wait!

Hey, just finished all the recolors, and the dwarf shooters are finished! ;D
I now hand them over to Nik for packaging and release. Hopefully we can get them up by the weekend.

Now I'll take a short break to recharge my batteries, and then it's time for some orcs!

Place a solar panel on your head, go outside in the sunlight and you can work on the Orcs while recharging your batteries! That will work!

these are great, however they are very games work shop like.
I've never gotten onto the why the hamlet must have horns would it be for intimidation or stature or why that everything dwarven must have a Celtic look about it.

I do it myself when drawing dwarfs.

Tolkien patterned some features of the dwarf culture after Vikings, and used the northern Futhork as the basis for dwarven script. The Victorian imagery of Vikings had horns and wings on their helmets, though there is no archaeological evidence that they actually used horns and wings.

Have fun!

That's a good response Stevelortz. I suppose the horned helmet/viking look is a theme that has been carried in dwarves, and I've always liked it. I know it isn't to everyone's liking, but for the most part I think it works well for them.

Almost without exception in games, fantasy etc.... Dwarves come from the North and live up/under mountains. We just can't help making them into little vikings.
