Been missing you bro! So glad you are doing better. Thats great news, also that you are working on getting healthier. Keep up the progress and stop by to say hi once in awhile! Kayaks totally rock once you get the hang of it. It took me awhile to realize that head above the water is where you want to be. ;)

So very glad that you are feeling better!

I go canoeing and kayaking with my girlfriend every summer, though it has been a few years since last we went canoe camping. Hope you enjoy it!

Long time no post, sorry to hear about the health issues but glad to hear it wasn't anything permanently debilitating. Good luck in your efforts to take care of yourself. I'll definitely miss your work, you inspired me to jump in and try a few paper minis myself.

Hey guys!

Just wanted to share with you that the diet and exercise are really paying off. I just past the 90 pound weight loss mark today! I have lost 8 inches off my waist. Daily, I now bike, hike, kayak or swim, sometimes all in one day. I feel better than I have in years. I am still only half way to my goal, but now it's just a matter of time, my body is now a fat burning monster. By the time I have reached my goal I should be a light, thin tanned ripped dude! A far cry from the fat ass sloth sitting in front of a computer for 12 hours a day. I continue to record my progress on my Youtube channel, Onemanworkshop.

I do intend to return with a vengeance. Next month I'll do some figures for the HOARD just to flex the design muscles again. I have been keeping a thumbnail sketchbook nearby and have several hundred ideas for figures.

I'll be doing some new designs in anticipation of publishing a new range of pre-printed and die cut miniatures and models in the future. Until I have the machinery and materials to start production, I will be offering the new designs for sale as print and play through the Sanity Studios store.

Excellent news Jim!
You are progressing nicely.
I can't wait to see more of your work. You have been so inspiring to my own paper mini production AND I also realize I should probably lose a few kilograms myself.
Are you getting any gaming in?

Just last night I was trying to remember where to find you on youtube. Good to hear you are still making progresss and great to hear you will post a fig or two again. I hope you feel good about how many people have taken up the torch in the last little while. You should be proud to be a "founding father" of the hobby, with many more years of creation ahead of you.

Thanks guys!

@Okumarts~ The only gaming I've done is boardgames. I do work as a game accessory designer, so I have never been out of the hobby to any extent.

@Floyd~ I'll be in contact with you sometime this month. I should be able to come out to your place by the end of the month for that game of disc golf we wanted to play. I suck at it totally, but it is fun to play hunt for the lost Frisbee...

@Cowboyleland~ I have been amazed and really happy to see how the community has grown! I really like how new great artists have stepped forward to hone their skills at this craft and create some great things. I am really satisfied with the way Nik has run the forum, and carried on the tradition of openness and inclusiveness that was my intention from the start.

I can't wait to get back into the swing of things in regards to the paper figure designs. It such a great creative outlet, and cheap to boot, both creatively and to gamers who want to buy the figures for their games.

:) Jim, your report and video really gave me goosebumps in my neck and a wet eye. Very inspirational. I never had any weight problems (I am quite an underweight type), but instead of this my psyche was/is more often on the lost and dark side of life than I want it to be. Inactivity and my completely anti-sport-spirit may be part of this problem.

By the way, Lake Michigan clouds seem to be half as cloudy as the ones here in Germany - for weeks now, constantly cold and raining. What a $#..ty summer over here !

Looking forward to your new mini line and equipment/production expansion, Jim. You are aiming at industry leadership once again ... ;D.

You're the man Jim! You'll achieve your goal in no time. In fact, making those hard core decisions is really the main battle to win, and it looks like you have done that. Endure to the end.

I look forward to seeing you back in the hobby. I'm glad that you are ok with the way Nik and I have done things. We do move slowly, but we get there eventually. There is a bright future for this hobby.

Laterz!

Hey Jim!! Glad to see you here again. I´ll be waiting for your new minis. I want to tell you that all my students know your name because they are very enthusiastic about the paper minis and want to know how I knew them. I always say that thanks to you I know the minis. I hope soon to have you with us :)

Big Jim,

I was VERY surprized to see you had posted on my thread last week. I am SO happy to see and hear that you are doing well. I am equally impressed that you ride your bike 6 miles each way to work. I hate to DRIVE that far to work. :-[

Seriously, I speak for all of us here when I say that you have been in our thoughts and prayers ever since you posted this thread. Now, we are all here to enjoy your triumph as you lose that next half of your goal.

(I do have to ask you this... 160 isn't very big. I am wondering if you aren't very tall. I am thinking that that might make you look very thin. I think I weighed that 20 years in High School and was a bone... (a far cry from where I am now)! So, I guess we will come to know you as "Thin Jim?")

Thank you for sharing and keeping us abreast of your accomplishments!

I was thinking along the same lines as Kiladicus. I'm between 150 and 155 but I'm less than 5' 7'' (rather than "runty" I prefer "compact and dependable") :-[ I was glad to hear you mention gaining muscle mass. I expect you will know when you are done when you get their. I work with someone who lost a lot of weight over the last year and she keeps trying to drop the "last ten pounds" and I keep thinking she should be happy whith where she is at (which is really hot, not that I notice) ;)
