That's a good response Stevelortz. I suppose the horned helmet/viking look is a theme that has been carried in dwarves, and I've always liked it. I know it isn't to everyone's liking, but for the most part I think it works well for them.

I always thought it fit them. After all, if anyone was going to just put their head down & charge ahead, it's an enraged dwarf!

The very first dwarf I played helped took the horns from a white dragon he'd help slay and had them mounted on his helm. Nearly doubled his height. ;D

Almost without exception in games, fantasy etc.... Dwarves come from the North and live up/under mountains. We just can't help making them into little vikings.

They really seem to be a mix just like most fantasy things. They have also seem to take some stuff from Irish and Welsh culture for example.

The viking connection is kind of funny cause Dwarves are often portrayed as a noble yet recluse mining race while Vikings by definition are murdering wanderers that got their wealth from pillaging monasteries.

I guess these dwarves are a mixture of Viking, Celtic, and themselves.

The one in the middle is a commander for the dwarves, and the other two are heavy infantry.

As soon as I finish the orcs, my plan is to do some goblins. And then I want to come back and do the Dwarven heavy infantry. That will give some good core troops for several armies. After that I suppose I will work on command groups, and then special units like war machines and such.

I am just slow. Life has been busy, and admittedly, my motivation has been low. :( But Rhannon is kicking my butt into gear, so I guess I'd better get cooking. It's a good thing. :) Sometimes you need some outside motivation and pressure to get something done.
