Hi all!
I'm new to the boards here, but I've been a happy One Monk customer for some time now. I took advantage of the sale that was held at the beginning of the year and I've found I've become quite addicted to the paper modelling scene. And the look of the One Monk minis really captures the feel I like to have in my campaigns.
I was thrilled to find the boards here, but I have to admit the amount of discussion has me a bit overwhelmed, especially since I'm looking for some advice on a particular issue. My local game store is holding a full blown RPG Games Day to celebrate Free RPG Day this weekend. I've been recruited to run a game (third year running!) and I've chosen to use the old Ghostbusters game from West End. I've found lots of great paper models for just about everything I need for the game with the exception of the main characters. I need some Ghostbuster fold up minis or something that can pass for a Ghostbuster fairly easily. Ideally it would be good for them not to be immediately identifiable as the characters from the movies (so generic is good). I'm making up the characters ahead of time so I can have them match whatever the minis look like, but I'm not using Venkmen, Spengler and the movie characters.
So yeah, if anyone has any advice or recommendations, I'd be happy and very thankful to hear them! I'm even capable of resizing an image and doctoring it up as a mini in a pinch. My image editing skills leave much to be desired though, so something simple would be best.
Thanks in advance!
Ray B.

Greetings dragonier and welcome to the fourms. would something like this work? I slapped him together with existing parts for my near future army I have been working on. I'll have to add Hair, better looking proton pack (i went from memory and think i got the basic shape down) and adjust the fills. It is possible that I might be able to slap some figures together over tonight and tomorrow. Granted they will just have basic gradient fills and such. How many figures do you need? Do you want backs? Nate

Nate! That is AMAZING!!! Sorry I didn't get a chance to see this until this morning. It is exactly what I was looking for! I honestly can't thank you enough! Backs would be fantastic too if it isn't too much trouble. I may have as many as six players so I guess six figures would be best, again, only if it isn't too much trouble. A variety of poses, some funky hair to make them easier to distinguish on the table might be cool too. I'm afraid my "noob" status is showing a bit because I honestly don't know how you even did your "basic" gradient fill. Thanks a million! Back to assembling my other pieces! Ray B.

KK sir give me a few hours and I'll see what I can put together. I should have something done later today so you can get them built for this weekend. Again it will be very basic as far as fills go just due to the time constraint. Check back here this afternoon or this evening.
Nate
PS: PM me your email address and when I get them done ill just fire the PDF off to you.

Nate, I envy your ability to improvise on the spot. Those are very nice playing pieces for a quick one off.

Thanks guys!
This was actually quite fun to put these guys together. I sent the files off to Dragonier but I'm gona make them look a bit more pretty before I post them here. Just some shading and highlights (perhaps some textures on the clothes) give me a few days.

Hey all! I just wanted to let Nate and everyone know that the Ghostbusters minis were a huge success! The game went incredibly well. There were probably a dozen different games going on in each of two sessions at the Free RPG Game Day Tournament being held by my local game store (The Hobby Kingdom in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, if anyone is interested. ) They had a huge variety of games for players to choose from, including Living Forgotten Realms, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Spirit of the Century, my Ghostbusters game, and many others. I had a 4 hour morning time slot and we used pretty much the whole thing. I kept the early action fairly uncomplicated, though still challenging. I simply didn't have time to put together full battle maps or scenery for every encounter location. However I did do a full set of minis and scenery for the climactic battle at the end where the intrepid Ghostbusters faced off against the evil cultists/frat boys who were trying to summon a "not-quite-Great-Old-One" and bring the world to a grizzly apocalypse. I did up the full set of 6 minis from Nate's set and also a couple Deep Ones from one of the free sets on the One Monk product page. The scenery I used was the recent Kingdom of Cthulhu set from Fat Dragon. It looked fantastic. The store that hosted the event has a very large community of minis gamers, with Privateer's Warmachine and Hordes being especially popular right now and GW's Warhammer lines coming a not-too-distant second. A lot of the folks at the games day didn't even realize you could do cardstock minis and scenery of this calibre. In fact a lot of them couldn't believe the the minis were just paper. I used 110 pound cardstock and followed all the advice I found about using a good gluestick, a very sharp X-Acto knife, and a black marker on the edges. I was sure to mention One Monk Miniatures and of course the fantastic community here on the boards. I think people were suitably impressed. I certainly know I am. ;D Again Nate, I can't thank you enough for the help. As promised, I took some pics of the minis in action on the game table. I'll post them as soon as I get a chance to get them off my camera. It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I look forward to seeing your final, fully polished set! Ray B.

AWESOME! I'm so glad that the day was a success. It never ceases to amaze me when people see my paper model/miniature collection and go "THAT MADE OF PAPER". It has been said before on this forum many a time but once you go paper there is no going back to plastic. I'm glad that I could help out just a little to make the game more enjoyable.

Now this is a perfect seg-way into:
Jim design some Cards! So people at a Con or just a LFGS can walk away with your name - if you came up with a nifty cardholder too that would be da' bomb.
(Something like Imperial Gryphons supporting either side of a stone shelf; a very 2.5D item)

Hey, glad to hear the Hobby Kingdom had a good turnout. I was supposed to make it, but I slept in (it's an hour away from me). I've been working at building and designing paper minis as well. Recently I ran a No Limits Trailer Park Boys Versus The Zombies game. It was well-received. www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=78890&id=643131417&l=36c00b5d64

Ah, it's too bad you missed it! I went to UW back in the early nineties so Waterloo is like home. Small world! I like what you've done with all the cardstock buildings in your photo gallery. Very nice indeed! Ray B.

Some innocent-enough thread necromancy... Are those Trailer Park Boys minis more of your own paper ones? Do you still have the file somewhere? Friends of mine & my husband's actually _work_ on that show, and I'd dearly love to make a set for them the next time they are home. Not that they'd see play (the "boys" are not gamers beyond RISK and Axis & Allies), but they would somehow at my house!

Ok, a lil' more thread necromancy Slick DragonierAnybody have the full, completed file of these Ghostbuster minis? I could finish these up with a bit of work, but if they are already done and easily available that's much preferable Sadly, Slick's not been around since Halloween, and Dragonier was last seen 4 years ago, so it might be a long shot. I wonder if anyone's ever done Slimer?
