Since the gun crawl recolors came out I have been thinking of picking up gun crawl, but I have a couple questions: 1. Is the gun crawl basic tileset the same one thats in the gun crawl game? www.ebblesminiatures.com/shop/gctiles1.php2. do any figures come with the game? nope 3. Going through all the different products available on the ebbles site, I see there are two different marines sets and 2 different bugs sets, yet their descriptions are very similar. Are these sets just different colors or is there a difference I can't see? EDIT: 4. Where do those alien figs shown on the cover come from? Is it in one of the bug sets?

Nope. It's an older tileset that predates the game. There are some free expansion tiles for it, so there are some things you can do with the older tileset that can't be done with the new one, like huge bossfight rooms. Link: www.ebblesminiatures.com/shop/downloads.phpTechnically, yes. More below. One's all in solid colors, the other set's all in camouflage. The solid colored ones go with the bugs, while the camouflaged ones were for a separate Machine War line. www.ebblesminiatures.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1538The figures used in the book illustrations are available as free downloads in that thread. Aliens and green armored marines both. You can get 1st Edition now, or you can hold out for a while and get 2nd Edition, which will be cheaper and easier to get going with. -Mel

Thanks for the business. *grin*
The marine figure is just the green version of the Bug War marine, with a yellow-gold visor instead of the normal black/blue visor, and I think it doesn't come with the jump packs or the shoulder weapon pods. How come?

just was curious. If there's enough of a difference in the sets, I might pick them up later on, once I get through building and assembling Jim's sci fi stuff first. I haven't had a reason til now to use any of the sci fi figs, so I have yet to build them.

ok one more question: the blast template says to print the grid part onto transparency, but is there an alternative for transparency paper for the same effect? From what I have seen, it costs 35 to 50 bucks for a pack of inkjet transparencies, but that is a little... high to printout 1 piece for a $20 print n play game. Currently I am thinking regular paper and a lot of fried chicken grease, but I somehow don't see this working all that well...
If there is no good alternative, is there a place I can get only a couple sheets or something?

(Both IBM and HPBrands) You don't need to print out the blast template on film if you don't want to. Really, a small reference to the grid squares effected is all you need. ~F

I remember someone using mentholated spirits or something like that on the paper - this turns the paper translucent. Try it.
You should (I haven't checked yet) post these also on Mel's site as it's his game that is beta'ing.
Me I would bite the bullet (and I did) and just get the correct film for your printer - it doesn't perish so it will keep for the next thing.

If there's a Wal-Mart near you, you can get a pack of inkjet film for like $7 USD. You only get around 10 sheets, but that's plenty. -Mel

I have already checked one walmart, but theres about a dozen more within a 10 min drive so I will check out a couple more. If I cannot find any, I will try out the menthylated spirits.

Can you print it on paper than take it to a printshop and have them photocopy it to acetate? Most of them do that over here.
Most art shops will sell single sheets of acetate etc.. too.

I ended up ckecking out the local fedex formerly known as kinko, and they do sell the individual transpariences. However, despite repeated claims from teh guy behind teh counter, they seem to be not for inkjets (the guy kept saying "they're for laserjets, so its ok for inkjets too." I really should have taken the time to teach him better). Even a few days after printing, the ink easily rubs off. However, a friend of mine has a b&w laser printer and I will have him print it out when I get to his house on sunday.
