I keep going back and forth on this. I have all the freely available rules and such ,so I could just build my own game. The people I game with now are mostly into 4+ player Euro games, no wargamers in the bunch. I think for the serious paper model geek, the automatic cutter was a better investment. JIM

I'm with Jim on this. As much as I'd love to have it, I don't have anyone to play it with. Sad that in a city of 3 million, the pockets of gamers all seem to be outside the city by at least 12 miles. Which by bus is painful.

I'm not up on my genestealer feeding habits, but after reviewing the gallery of new miniatures for the new release of Space Hulk, doesn't it seem strange that so many of the genestealers are holding heads or skulls? Why not a leg or arm? Don't any genestealers like dark meat?

Hello Guncrawl 2nd edition with OneMonk minis. ;D While the re-release of Space Hulk does look nice, it hits home as to why this website exists in the first place. Since I am not a naturally-gifted painter (and I am not inclined to invest the 500+ hours to hone my skillz), the paper minis here look better and better all the time from a cost and time-investment perspective. While the GW guys make marines and genestealers look *AWESOME*, , they don't come that way out of the box. Also, I have fun putting Jim's Hybrids together, and they work fantastic for my skirmishes and RPGs. 'Nuff said.

If you like space hulk, our first game design project might be to your liking.
Dominant Species....
A battle where the Terran Forces must stop the hive expanding aliens from over running...well, EVERYTHING!!!
Action point system - allows for squad spawning throughout the mission. When a unit dies you spend your collected resources to spawn another unit in its place. The aliens can not only spawn new units as well, be can spend resources to gestate into a completely different alien form while already in play...from attacker to builder, from ground unit to flyer....
Will be using one monk figs and Jim has agreed to do our aliens on commision. Were developer testing the rules then will be moving to gamer testing. If anyone is interested in play testing please let me know. We would love your gamer input.

Awsome! I love Space Hulk. Well everyone did. The box came with everything you need. a bunch of Space marines Genestealers. Combine several games and you've got quite a badass skirmish. It even won some awards. People still play it, dang twenty years later. I've even tried to get my hands on a used copy. Worth its weight in gold. So, why the heck did they stop printing it three years after release?
I don't know either. Seems like it is gonna be just another one of GW's atomic ball kick. They put it out for five minutes and then stop. They will probably come out with Space Derelict with different rules so you can't even use the previous Space Hulk stuff.... I won't be buying it.
Does anyone else feel this way?

The Genestealers are straight forward enough to still make this tense and fun. Just barely finished my first mission with 1 marine left. Anyway, would love to check out your game. Any info would ne great!!

I saw a copy first hand at the local comic shop the other day.
The last time I bought much Games Workshop stuff was their Lord of the Rings figures, but they priced themselves out of my budget shortly after the third movie was released.
The cardboard components of Space Hulk seem inelegantly clunky and very limited in scope after adventuring around in cardstock for a year and a half.
Good game, but more expensive and less fun that the things I can do with One Monk product.
Also, Space Hulk was just a cheap rip-off of The Awful Green Things from Outer Space ;D
Have fun! Steve

I have always liked GW's style and intellectual property, but I agree that GW has always run high on price. Couple that with a new edition of Warhammer Fantasy, 40k, what-have-you every couple of years and you have to ask yourself why certain properties are treaded and re-treaded and re-re-treaded. I don't deny that there can be good changes to rulesets, that artists can come out with new designs on an old idea that look great and all that, but after awhile it just seems more and more like a pure money-grab. I realize that everybody's got to make a living, but trying to get people to completely reinvest in your gaming products every few years via a "new" edition seems like a low-brow way to do it. Nice though the new edition may be...

Don't know if anyone listens to the D6 Generation podcast. But the most current episode has a complete component description and game rule review of the 3rd edition SpaceHulk set. Go listen (btw their reviews are at the very end of the podcast...and they usually do an extremely thorough breakdown). BTW, it seems the rules are an amalgamation of the 1st and 2nd editions with some new and interesting additions and changes. The sand timer is back Yah! The jam rules are different. Guard mode. Flamers effect entire board sections. And the Librarian has some interesting options. ~F
