Hi, The following is a link to Desert Folk, you know, caravan guards, raiders, dancing girls, snake charmer.... Hope you find them useful, its the first 2 page download. www.4shared.com/document/yp5vXJk6/Desert_Folk.html And here are the much demanded Camels for merchant caravans, I've never done animals before so I hope people like them: www.4shared.com/document/DDonBJM0/Camels.html And now there is a set of Desert Oddities such as Desert Elves, Desert Dwarves, Djinn, and Minor Elementals. www.4shared.com/document/ARddBSDe/Desert_Oddities.htmlThis set includes a Sultan (for important meetings), a large Bodyguard (to guard important people), an adventuing Prince and his Maiden companion, a couple of Musicians (Pipes and Drums to play for the Bellydancers), a Merchant Vendor to work the marketplace, and a pair of Street Urchins to pick pockets, act as guides, or get into trouble so the characters have to save them. www.4shared.com/document/s5fbIZ01/Desert_Oddities_2.html ;D NEW! NEW! NEW! I needed a few Desert Assassins from the Hassassin Clan in my current game and drew these up this weekend. Since I only needed a Master Assassin and four normal Assassins (5 figures) I wasn't originally going to post them, but my wife convinced me otherwise. I duplicated the normal Assassins to fill up the rest of the page. If you need a few professional Hassassin Clan killers in your desert games, feel free to use these. www.4shared.com/document/TfsKniua/Hassains.htmlHave fun! Dryw the Harper

Your models look great and they're super-useful, Dryw. Thank you!

I'm glad you all seem to like them, I must admit I've already made a dozen camels for my own use at this point. They came out better than I expected. For those of you glad to see them, you should give thanks to Enpeze who attacked the different Forum boards in search of camels. I wouldn't have tried making them if not for his continuing search. As a side note, my next post will probably be a Bishop, Priest, and Church Guards for use in Fantasy campaigns. It may be posted later today. Oh, Enpeze, I also have a Djinn I'm experimenting with, along with a couple of Desert Elves. But they're probably still a week off as I am in the middle of a few other pieces I need for my own game at the moment. Dryw the Harper

AFAIR there are not many of them floating around. I am wondering why they are not that popular. ATM I planning a desert game with your camels and (hopefully) also with your djinn if you find time to load him up. Regarding the camels. You are right. It was a kind of typical Austrian camel raid I guess . But the loot of this raid is purple for everyone who plays in deserts (I am sure thats not just me) because your drawing is great. Thanks again.

About thirty years ago, I made some merchandise lists for various cities in my campaign and figured out some price differentials, so that characters could gain gold pieces and experience by engaging in trade as overland adventures, and not have to go in the dungeons at all, if that's what they wanted to do.
Your camels remind me of those halcyon days!
Have fun! Steve

Your camels remind me of those halcyon days! Have fun! Steve yes. one use camels not only in deserts. they are usable in many exotic environments. This reminds to look on the internet for other exotic fantasy animals capable of transporting goods. (giant lizards lurking around in underdark trade centers or flying giant birds for the typical fantasy air trading company)

I would think that someone could take Scruff's Elephant found in the free Horde from last month and turn him into a pack animal by adding merchandise to him. He'd be a good addition to any caravan. Anyway, I just finished laying out my set of Imperfect People: Raiders, done with a Mongol - Cold Steppes feel just in time for a winter release. Hopefully it will be turned into a PDF and posted before the end of the day. One more threat for said caravans. Dryw the Harper

Hi Folks, I have a two-page PDF add on for the Desert Folk titled Desert Oddities almost finished (having trouble getting it into PDF with the colors still right). It has a half-a-dozen Desert Elves, a Desert Dwarf Merchant and two Desert Dwarf Guards, a Djinn of Air, a larger Djinn of Fire, a small Earth Elemental, a Sand Elemental, and a Fire Elemental. Hopefully if all goes well I should have it posted by later today. Dryw the Harper Oh, and then I might post a few Giants. I have three Common Giants done and a Frost Giant almost finished.

Georgeous! Many many thanks for putting these purple goodies up, Dryw. I especially love the elementals und jinns. The sand elemental reminds me to a sandminion mini of mageknight. Did this mini inspire your drawing?
Super and thumbs up!

Off in the distance I hear the heavy "THOOM THOOM THOOM" sound of Giants getting closer and closer. The layout on two Common Giants, a Frost Giant, and a Fire Giant is complete and they are now in the process of being turned into a two-page PDF. Hopefully they will be posted sometime today under Imperfect Giants. Oh, and I've never seen the Sand Minion mini of Mageknight, is there a picture of it somewhere? Dryw the Harper

I love these desert folk. Would it be possible to have some females that aren't scantily clad. These dancing girls look pretty, but they would fry under the desert sun.

Afet,
Do you mean typical robed and covered desert women for background characters on the streets and in encampments?

Afet, Do you mean typical robed and covered desert women for background characters on the streets and in encampments? Dryw the Harper The wouldn't have to necessarily be covered burka style. But something more modest and practical than belly dancing attire would be good. Cheers,

Greetings from the desert once more.
I have another page of Desert Figures laid out and almost ready to post. It includes a large Bodyguard character, an adventuring Prince and his Maiden companion, a Sultan for important meetings, a Merchant Vendor for the market square, a pair of Musicians (pipes and drums) to supply music for the previously released Bellydancers, a couple of Street Urchin children to either pick characters' pockets, act as guides in a strange city, or be threatened by out of control wagons, and a trio of Desert Women in traditional robes instead of dancing girl outfits (for Afet). ;D Dryw the Harper

The desert wind blows across the dunes and you finally reach the oasis. A city of brightly colored tents surround the water and you can see all types of people about you. This set includes a Sultan (for important meetings), a large Bodyguard (to guard important people), an adventuing Prince and his Maiden companion, a couple of Musicians (Pipes and Drums to play for the Bellydancers), a Merchant Vendor to work the marketplace, and a pair of Street Urchins to pick pockets, act as guides, or get into trouble so the characters have to save them. www.4shared.com/document/s5fbIZ01/Desert_Oddities_2.htmlEnjoy. Dryw the Harper Oh, I also posted the preview and link at the top of the thread as well.

Awesome. Once again, you've come up with some excellent and practical characters. Thanks particularly for the three more heavily clothed women. I appreciate it. I like the sultan a lot. I can picture him seated on a divan or a mound of cushions with hooka at his side.
Cheers,

I actually like how the two Street Urchins came out. Useful contacts in a city, useful guides, and useful as comic relief or for the characters to have to rescue. Dryw the Harper

Dryw the Harper I like the children too. Speaking of children, I often use adolescent NPCs as stable boys; farmer's son/daughter; servants; chamber maids; messengers; etc. Also, I think a villager woman holding a baby would be useful. Just to be clear, I'd love to see these additions to general fantasy characters, not the Desert Folk.
