NOW HERE... IMPERFECT SOLDIERS Whether manning the walls of the local Lord's castle or patrolling the surrounding countryside keeping farmsteads safe from brigands and raiders, every fantasy society needs solders. Trained men, well armed and armored. Professional warriors in service to the local Baron / Count / Earl / Duke / Prince / King. This set of 12 figures includes a Captain of the Guard, a Sargent of the Guard, and 10 Soldiers. These men are outfitted in chain mail armor, heater shields, broad swords, spears, and even crossbows. The Captain has a steel breastplate and greaves. www.4shared.com/document/amlnyTkt/Soldiers.htmlUse Soldiers responsibly (not to oppress the Farmsteaders and Townsfolk). Dryw the Harper NOW HERE... IMPERFECT SOLDIERS 2 These Soldiers are the type found manning the local castle or patrolling the countryside in the employ of an unscrupulous Lord such as a greedy Baron, oppressive Count, or cruel Duke. Perfect for abusing the peasentry or harrassing player characters. Also great for collecting back-taxes. The set includes a Captain in plate armor, a large, muscular Sargent, and ten normal Soldiery (including a slightly short soldier) armored in chain mail, helms with visors, and shields. Colored www.4shared.com/document/BuCBjOz_/Soldiers_2.htmlUncolored www.4shared.com/document/dpZqjdxV/Soldiers_2_Blank.htmlAs always, oppress the population responsibly ;D Dryw the Harper Oh, the uncolored version for people to play with (create your own Coat of Arms and your own colors for your local villain).

Sadly, my wife is re-enchanting her magic wand at the moment and I must patiently wait for her to finish so she can transform the file into a PDF. Perhaps by the end of today. Dryw the Harper

Actually the spell component cost is free. She is the head enchanter at a magic wand service and repair dispatch center. It is simply time consuming. Dryw the Harper

For some reason I am having a real hard time DLing these ones today ... is something wrong with 4 shared?
*edit* I have them now and they are terrific. I will be using groups of them to represent "The Valegaurd" a neutral military force tasked with enforcing the peace between 5 neighboring duchies in my campaign.
Awesome work!

Awesome, once again. Thank you for these Dryw. I'm glad the wand has its magic back in working order. As you know, I play in the Forgotten Realms. These soldiers will work perfectly for the city guards of Waterdeep. And the shields would be easy to customize (to a purple dragon, a twisted tower, etc.) for any number of national or municipal settings in the Realms. Currently, however, the PCs in my campaign are in Zhentarim occupied Daggerdale (circa 1367 DR); and they will have fairly regular run-ins with Zhent soldiers and mages. The blue and white uniforms of these soldiers is a little too light-hearted for them to serve as Zhents, who (based on descriptions in FR novels and pictures in supplements) tend to wear darker uniforms with red, purple accents. If you're interested in an idea for another set, it would be great to have a group of more conventionally "evil" looking soldiers; perhaps even with a stereotypical skull on their shield. These could serve as the all purpose "bad guy" minions in almost any campaign setting. After all it has to be someone's job to, as you say, "oppress the Farmsteaders and Townsfolk". Heck, if you had uncolored versions of these, I might even have a go at changing the color scheme for the uniforms myself. Thanks for these great looking and useful NPC sets, Dryw. Cheers,

Afet, Sadly, no uncolored versions. I used to copy the uncolored versions and have blank ones to change around, but in order to save time and paper I now do the design, the backs (by folding the paper at the base line and using a home-made light box), and the coloring all on one sheet. Mind you, since they are primarily white with light blue trim, the white could be recolored as red and the light blue recolored as black with little difficulty. Still, I think a more "evil" set with more "evil" looking weapons and armor might be a project worth doing. But next will be another set of Imperfect Adventurers (already have a Harper for Tabris, a new male Swashbuckler and female Swashbuckler, and a new Martial Artist in the works). Dryw the Harper

Afet, Cool. Go right ahead. You caught me right before I started to recolor the originals to see how they'd come out. Instead I'll keep working on the next set of Imperfect Adventurers (I now have an Amazon warrior in the works for the next Imperfect Adventurers). By the by, I found people were coming over from the Fat Dragon site, went and visited that Forum, and found you posted a thread about Imperfect People. I also found out that you are a Global Moderator over there (an important big-wig?). I signed up for that Forum as well now, though I haven't left any comments as of yet. Perhaps I should leave news over there when I post new sets? Dryw the Harper

I seriously doubt that my recoloring efforts will compare to yours, but I'll give it a try. Yes, there are a lot of people here who participate over at the FDG forum, as well as at Worldworks, and Ebbles, and others. Tom made me a moderator a while back when he went away to a Con. I guess he figured that I was loitering there anyway, so he might as well put me to work And yes of course, feel free to post updates on new sets in the thread I started about your minis: fatdragongames.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1153&page=1#14096Cheers,

Excellent idea. I am sure that over there are also alot of fans which are interested in dryws work. I also sometimes lurk in the fdg forum and would love to read what their reaction to those IPs is (or rather Ps)
"Imperfect People for everyone!"
BTW Dryw, the pose of the soldier captain looks like it would be inspired by the WotC mini "mercenary general" from the set "desert of desolation". Is this true?

Ah I understand. It seems that the soldier officers have a common preferred pose all over space and time. What I like at this soldier captain is the way you draw his plate armor. It looks like he comes directly from the last valley movie. (a `70 historical movie about the 30 years war which I am a big fan of)

Sorry, folks. My attempts at recoloring these soldiers to make them look like Zhents or generalized baddies have been utter failures, and not worth posting. I'm afraid we're going to have to wait till Dryw comes up with something. Cheers,

Cool. I had intended to recolor by hand the white tunics and white part of the shields red, and the blue yokes, gloves, shield chervron as dark gray (close to black), but these look good. Still, I'll probably do a batch of actual "Evil" soldiers with helms that cover more of their faces, and more sinister shields and weapons. At the moment I'm playing around with putting out a set of Imperfect Nobles, various Lords and Ladies that can serve as characters' patrons (or adversaries). Fat ones, skinny ones, warrior ones, fop ones... Dryw the Harper

Eric (who needs a break from staring at the RoboMaster program) These look great, Eric. I would eliminate the Zhentarim symbol; both because it opens up having other people use your newly recolored versions for various purposes, and because, to be honest, I've never liked nor used either of those symbols. I use the symbol of the god Cyric, which is simpler, more medieval looking and more intimidating. forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/File:Cyric_symbol.jpgA simple skull would do; or no symbol at all is fine too, if that's easier. Beggers can't be choosers Thanks, Eric. cheers,

Mayhaps I should try scanning in the ink drawings before I color them so those who wished to could experiment with changes. Sadly, as I mentioned earlier, the soldiers were colored directly on the original ink work so there isn't a "blank" version. Dryw the Harper

I didn't have much luck recoloring, but I bet I could make a go of it if I started with blank figures.
