LOL! Even the beer is evil! Thanks, that was my favorite in this set, "Hey guys, what are we doing? Conquering the world again?"

So, Brain, what're we going to do tonight?
Same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to take over the world. ;D
I too loved the beer mug.

Happy to oblige. ;D For those who have had trouble re-coloring and want to learn a process here is what I did. - As much as possible I wanted to preserve Drywe's original work in terms of line and shading. - First I opened the pdf at 300 dpi in Photoshop. Then I used image adjusments to desaturate the base layer. Then I opened the original pdf again into a new layer. The new layer became Original:Color, the base one became Original:Desaturated. -Between the two layers with figures I made two more layers called Red & Purple, set their blending modes to multiply, and reduced their opacity to about to about 80% on each. -On the red layer I painted over everything I wanted to be red, selected it all with the magic wand selection tool, deleted those areas from the layer Original:Color. Did the same for purple. The multiplied colors over the desaturated original allowed elements of the original shading and coloring to show through and blend with the new colors. -The skull decal I found for free on the web, lots of free skull art out there. -I was going to do some more highlighting, I did a little on the Captain's helmet plume, but decided not to as I didn't want to make big changes to somebody else's work. So instead I created a levels adjustment layer above all the color work layers and below the skulls decal layer and pulled up the brightness and deepened the darker colors. This allowed the original shading to show through my re-coloring better and made the re-colors more vivid. Have fun!

Umm, wow Thanks for that. I wouldn't have had the first clue as to where to start . I was just trying to color over top. Hence my failure. Cheers,

I have the first three actual Evil Soldiers inked both front and backed but not colored. Their helms have "evil" visors with eye-slits, their shields are a more sinister shape, and their swords have a more "evil" feel to them. I will scan in the uncolored artwork before coloring it so I might be able to post an uncolored version for people to play with. Suggestions on prefered color schemes welcome. Dryw the Harper Oh, and Squirmydad, the tutorial is great. Though I dont have Photoshop on my ancient MacWand, my wife's WindowsWand does and she was interested in how you recolored the soldiers in case she felt like fiddling with other projects.

I also really liked what seemed to be leather armor on the Nobleman in the red cape with the sword in the Nobles set. I think nasty mercenaries soldiers in leather armor would look great. Cheers,

You're welcome again. One thing to remember is that this is just 'A' process that I'm currently favoring. The Desaturation layer isn't explicitly necessaary in any recoloring, I just like to play with it. You can just paint directly over the previous colors of a model, I do recommend using different layers for each color you use and to play with the blending modes and opacity level on each of those layers.

All the front and back ink are done for ten Evil Soldiers, their Sargent, and their Captain. I've scanned in the uncolored versions to create an uncolored PDF for those who wish to experiment in coloring. Now I have to do my own hand-coloring so I can scan in a colored set. I'll lay them both out when the colored ones are done and post both at the same time. Whew. Dryw the Harper

Yes, I may ultimately slow down, but as for now the next set of Imperfect Soldiers (in red, gray, and other dark colors) to be used as possible minions of less scrupulous Nobles has been colored and laid out. It should post much later today. Use them for oppressing villagers and harrassing player characters. I still haven't laid out the uncolored set yet. Dryw the Harper.

NOW HERE... IMPERFECT SOLDIERS 2 These Soldiers are the type found manning the local castle or patrolling the countryside in the employ of an unscrupulous Lord such as a greedy Baron, oppressive Count, or cruel Duke. Perfect for abusing the peasentry or harrassing player characters. Also great for collecting back-taxes. The set includes a Captain in plate armor, a large, muscular Sargent, and ten normal Soldiery (including a slightly short soldier) armored in chain mail, helms with visors, and shields. Colored www.4shared.com/document/BuCBjOz_/Soldiers_2.htmlUncolored www.4shared.com/document/dpZqjdxV/Soldiers_2_Blank.htmlAs always, oppress the population responsibly ;D Dryw the Harper Oh, the uncolored version for people to play with (create your own Coat of Arms and your own colors for your local villain).

These are brilliant, Dryw. Somehow one feels less guilty about killing the baddies when they are made anonymous by visors and cowls If you´re interested in pursuing the baddies theme any further, you could draw some evil wizards and priests to accompany or command the evil soldiers. I´m thinking of the Forgotten Realms again, which brings to mind evil aligned groups like the Zhentarim, the Cult of the Dragon, The Red Wizards of Thay, The Church of Shar, etc. Cheers,

That's why the "evil" soldiers in fantasy movies always seem clad that way (that, and they can use the same actors over and over getting killed, and no one will notice). Dryw the Harper By the by, who says the Church of Shar is evil? One of my own favorite characters from long ago was a bi-classed rouge-priest of Shar (okay maybe he was an assassin-priest). I never regarded myself as evil, simply expedient. ;D

Dryw the Harper Sometimes that works, a friend of mine was in a movie called "Kings Guard" and after his character died he was sent back in wearing a different costume; black hat to cover the face and don't look at the camera, even so it was painfully obvious that Kit was working a second role.

Nice! REALLY NICE!
EDIT: And will the united might of the Sky Pony Tribe, The Druids of Tall Trees and The Harpers end Luskans lust for power? All that in the next episode of my campaign, using Dryw's minis for the soldiers of Luskan, of course.

I never regarded myself as evil, simply expedient. ;D Maybe your right. After all, Shar just seeks to destroy the worlds she and Selune spawned and return the material universe to a state of entropy. Sure, it's true that she "resides in the deepest shadows, nurturing the secret hatreds, the unnatural desires, and the lust for revenge that resides in the black corners of the mortal heart" (FRCG 4e), but who doesn't.
