;D Thank you all for your comments! (I'm fairly certain I'm not insane, although if I was, would I know it?) They are not nearly as delicate as you might think, I design a lot of structure into them (and white glue / paper actually forms a rigid bond). A whole chess set would be awesome! I of course would need to design some more figure sets. At any rate, the Courser is now available in my store at tcfgaming.com All medieval sets are also on sale, for the remainder of this month. Enjoy! Tirick

This is awesome I studied in university to do 3D work, but I don't think I would have the patience to recreate a model onto paper. Does it ever look awesome though. What modelling software do you use?

I use Blender for all the 3d modelling; exported into .obj format for Pepakura unfolding.
For the textures I use GIMP, and always UV model it so I can reapply new ones in Pepakura.
The trick is to know which elements are pure 3d models and which are designed to fit as paper. Many of the figures I've made don't quite look right in 3d, and very few are enclosed 'solid' models.
Thank you! Tirick

I recently had to learn Blender for an internship I did, it was tough to pick up the heavily hotkey reliant interface, but I found it to be a great program before long and have been using it for months. In school, I learned with 3ds max but the price tag is staggering!
I've never unwrapped with a seperate program before, I'll have to look into it!
Thanks for your reply :) Scrolls

Oh I unwrap in Blender, I just don't use Blender's native painting tool. I export the UV map and texture in GIMP, then import/apply the image file to the UV.
Let's me play with layers and filters, without which texturing is much, much more painstaking.

Tirick has taken down his store. When you go to his website now, all of his models are free to download.
