We will be looking over the huge catalog of Jim's material and deciding which sets to offer for free and which sets should be paid. With such an expansive collection as Onemonk's, there will be undoubtedly a large number of sets still offered for free. Jim's work is good (hence the reason many of us are here) and we tend to value things by how much we have to pay for them. Money is also a helpful reminder to continue to create new and exciting sets. [That being said, anybody who has even partially been in the gaming industry will tell you money is not the reason to start. We are gamers just like yourselves who love the hobby.] Jim has expressed interest in selling us his future designs and we hope to be able to offer them. A market for paid product could be jeopardized by so many free sets. We will be sure to make large announcements about any big changes such as this so that nobody will be suprised. So for now, please enjoy the wonderful artwork and be sure to post some pics .
Nobody is better at beating around the bush than Nik.
You can probably count on a lot of the primary model sets going back to the way they were, but the good news is that it will still be a little while before that occurs and in the meantime there is still plenty of opportunity to get whatever you want for free. With all the forum hoards and free sampler model sets and so forth there will be no shortage of free models, and the ones that do cost won't be expensive.
Sanity Studios has never been about gouging people and we aren't about to start now. We always try to be as inexpensive as possible. Let the good times roll.
Jim had a good system with his creating and selling his miniatures, with some freebies thrown in and the hoards... and while itt was a nice gesture and all he really shouldn't have just given all the sets away like he did (imo anyway). I think it hurt their value/perceived or otherwise. The blister pack look was a great idea and I am really sorry he just decided to *give away the entire line of intellectual property like that. But kudos to you guys for swooping in before someone else could have.
I imagine a nice new repackaging, maybe a freshening of the older lines, a few recolors and alternate poses would be on the docket.
Good luck and I hope you guys keep Jims' work available and add to its value.
No probs, I tend to do mods when I'm feeling burnt out or need a rest from trying to draw/design my own stuff which happens a bit as I'm no artist and it can be very frustrating sometimes when I can't workout why something looks "off" .

Vermin King: Not the style you are looking for, but try a search for 'paper theatre' or 'paper theater', and you will find a few pages of epinal figures. Not many, but I know there are a few

shep: Does anyone know where to find decent individual minis of late Roman Republic era civilians? From senator to slave, every mini would be great, as long as they are not legionaires or generals or other military (Praetorian Guard and Roman Vigiles excluded)
