I like the bones portal theme, but i think they lacks for some structure, some "border"..... maybe a spine, or a spiked spine as a "contour", so you can cut along it instead of just cutting "thru" the skulls and the bones.

I agree with parduz, it looks like bones stuffed into an archway. But I still like it, it looks like something a crafty cecromancer could do with hot glue (or tar and bone glue), or a portal opened in a pile of refuse that then formed the archway.

Ooh yes. Transparency. Excellent idea - at least for the centre. It's a one size fits all design - the archway is supposed to suggest that the (imaginery) walls of the corridor are constructed or lined with bone. Only after the b/w stage was finished did Mortis on the Lost and the Damned forum suggested that it would make a nice portal. Perhaps a separate design is required - also lining up the hole is proving tricky for the more discerning modeller, so I may cheat and just flip the design around, at a later date. Necromancers with a glue gun? It's a Pol Pot Makeover! Oh dear. There was a line somewhere ...

I can just picture an undead Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen in his mould stained crushed velvet jacket.
I apologise to anyone outside of the UK who has no chance with that reference

^^^ ;D ;D Sorry for my delayed reply. That made me laugh loudly! I'm sure we've deported Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen to the colonies by now. A sort of make-"under" - "6ft under"? Okay, I fail at undead jokes.
