Hi i´m here again not doing minis but to show the minis of my pupils. i´m a teacher of 4th grade in Tucumán, Argentina and i introduce my students in the paper minis too. I´m making a blog in spanish and publishing there some minis for them. Here there are some pic of my pupil´s minis
And this are designs of my pupyl Luciano
These two are from avatar the last airbender
And this are designed for him
I hope that they continue in this hobby, and how Jim say me sometime: "I'm happy your students like the figures. I love when kids discover a whole new word that is accessible to them"
Hi!. One of my students have made a mini with front and back and i scanned it to show it here. My pupil is 10 years old and i think that is a very good mini for his age. The front and back match perfectly. I leave you the king dark warrior by Abel Gobbo.
Wow!!! Lizard-men is really awesome, with dynamic but still perfectly suited for paper-minis positioning and overall design plus good back-side as well.
I'd like also King Dark Warrior -- which reminds me "Hagar the Terrible" (known also as "Hogar The Viking") by Dik Browne -- one of my all-time favorite comic character!
Actually all submitted projects looks surprisingly good (including the ones on photos) -- and with just a little additional finishing and some assembling most of them could be easily upgraded and compete with many commercial ones. Still... Lizard-men is my favorite so far!
I'm also quite impressed with scenery - especially the one showed on picture with castle and river, with stones/rocks on riverside! So big/huge BRAVO for your students!!!
I´m very glad that they start to make their own minis, and they fell motivated if i upload their minis to my blog where they can see it and show it to their friend . I hope they continue doing it becuase i feed their creativity. I also make them play with minis in a simple wargame invented by me mixing some D&D minis rules.
woosh: also, where can i find cool ships and mechs? im looking particularly for any spider tanks or spider mechs. ive seen the site with all the mechwarrior papercrafts and ive made a couple of those but none of them are especially spider-like

oldschooldm: Yup. More power to anyone who tries it. It will only whet the appetite for people who want paper minis that were designed to be paper minis. :-) Fronts and Backs FOREVER! :-) [... it's bait, don't bite it! ... ]

cowboyleland: Now I have seen it. It doesn't advance our hobby, but anyone with half a brain who wanted 2nd rate figures could easily figure this out for themselves so I guess he isn't doing any harm.

berneart76: well, this is fun, (not) transferring all my papercrafting sets into the cloud. The stuff I got from DriveTrhruRPG was simple with their library desktop app,but my other stuff, sometimes with multiple duplicate copies is entertaining.

berneart76: Vermin King I usually use a mix of drybrush/watercolor/photocopy and occasionally posterizing at different levels of opacity.

berneart76: Vermin King, that's similar to the enhancing that I do on my texturing. I've found that sometimes I need to scale up or scale down the image (usually by 50 or 25 percent down or 200 or 300 percent up) to make get the enhancements to look "right"

Vermin King: On the zebras, I did multiple enhancements and cartoon filters and used them at 100%, and they still didn't look that different than the photos

Vermin King: When I make a figure or terrain piece based on a photo, I clean it up and align things to look 'right', then I create another layer and do enhancing and cartoonizing on it. I then adjust opacity over the photo image until it looks good. On the zebras,

Vermin King: berneart76, do you mean giving them green or purple manes and tails? and a few piercings? maybe a cig hanging out of their mouths?
