In the year 2089, the former Russian Army, now known as the Kimerlin Army, uses technology to improve their soldiers. Dr. Pietor Rosinski, along with his beloved assistant, the beautiful Dr. Julian Markos, designed a formula to regenerate dead cells. This regeneration formula was developed to prevent serious injuries from becoming fatal. One injection of this formula would allow limbs that would need to be amputated to recover fully. This worked great, and over time, the "Rosinski Formula" became the ONLY means of medical treatment for the Kimerlin Army. But, one thing that Dr. Markos didn't realize was that her lover, Rosinski, was greedy and wanted power. His formula was growing in popularity, and was being sold via the black market, and he was becoming wealthier and wealthier. His ambitions knew no limits... As the Earth's resources were nearly depleted, funding for his research stopped. His formula was banned by the Kimerlin Government, due to side-effects that were growing in numbers. One of which was that although the people that were treated were completely healed of their illnesses, their bodies became dependent on the formula, and their cells stopped reproducing on their own. As hordes of individuals lay dying in hospital beds, their bodies twisted and withered, Rosinski saw his people dying around him by the hordes. Since he was forbidden to use his formula on living individuals, he began testing on the deceased members of his army. Because the formula regenerated dead cells, the corpes began to move, and exhibit signs of life. Because of their deceased forms were twisted, they were hideous creatures. Thier brain function was that of a child, and since they were basically "re-booting" the living essence of their bodies, their minds would develop as that of a child. To increase the minds of these creatures, Rosinski began exposing them to large doses of the formula. This worked to an extent. The formula forced their minds to grow quickly, and unnaturally fast. Because of this, they weren't able to have rational thought, but only experience strong emotions like love, hate and anger. He began giving them MORE doses and it not only increased their minds, but their bodies and turned them into hulking monstrosities. These mutant zombies were know known as "Rosinski Mutants." When Dr. Markos discovered what Rosinksi was doing, she tried to stop him. One of his creatures, since they could only display strong emotions, felt a strong desire to protect his "father," and killed Dr. Markos. In a fit of rage, Rosinski shot the creature in the head, and killed it. Within minutes, as he stood over the body of his lover, he felt a presence behind him. Looking over his shoulder, he saw the creature standing over him, fully healed. The death of Dr. Markos drove him insane, and his love for her forced him to try to use the formula on her. As he ran to inject her with the formula, he discovered that there was no more. He had used the remaining supply on his creatures that now had it running in their veins like blood. Their bodies had adapted to this formula and mutated it into a thick substance that allowed them to reproduce it like cells. As Rosinski extracted this "blood" from the mutants, and injected it into his beloved, she shreiked, and her body writhed as it twisted and shriveled up to resemble a twisted vine. She lived, but at a terrible cost. Remarkably, her mind was still in tact, and she remembered everything for her past life. She was also an engineer in cybernectics. As she tried to build a new body that would allow her to be free of her now twisted body, she began experimenting on the mutants, and discovered her new research would allow her to graft new limbs on them. So I present to you, my "next" figure design, the zombie-mutant-cyborgs, the ROSINSKI MUTANTS! (I am going to TRY to have these done before the dead-line). [a href=" "] [/a]

Nice! Mutant Chronicles meets Confrontation You should try to draw in bigger resolution: you'll get less pixelation and more "material" to blur the lines a bit.... unless you wanted that look. The perspective of the "gatling gun" is a bit odd: the "horizontal curves" should be "equally curved" (was you thinking i was not looking at your drawings? ;D ) PS: the image link is messed

Well, I drew that last night while my wife was updating he FB. It picture was origninally 6 inches tall. This was the core drawing, and I scanned it and pasted it into PAINT. Once I did that, I transferred it over to a monocolor BMP file, and that gave me the black lines. This was an experiment, and it worked pretty well to give me a nice solid BLACK out-line. When I did my Psi-Borg, I scanned it and then had to go in and make the lines black, because they looked grey once they were converted into PAINT. This actually doesn't have as nice of a look to it, but it saved me an hour or so in the preliminary transfer. I think that I may STILL need to retrace it, to smooth out the lines, but this is at least a start! Once I color it, it should look as good as the Psi-Borg ended up looking (not that it is "good" by any stretch of the imagination). But hey, they are little paper miniatures that are 25mm tall! If I were as good as Tommygun, and a lot of others here, I'd be doing this for a living! I am glad that you were looking at my drawings, although I must admit when I see that you commented, I get a little nervous. I know that, IMO, you have one of the keenest eyes on the forum, and notice things that others might not. I saw that Parduz had posted a comment, and I thought, "Oh no. I hope that my perspective isn't off, or my proportion doesn't look askew!" As far as the bands around the barrels of the gatling/assault cannon go, I will fix those in the next phase. You are, of course, right! The SHOULD be completely straight and now rounded. If that were the case, then you should see the ends of the barrels. Since I like to bend my figures to make them look 2.5D, I like my stuff to be "flat" on the end. If I had more time, I MIGHT make his gun barrel rounded, and that would give it a 2.75D feel! Thanks for your comments, my friend! Anyone else want to take a stab at this? (Actually when I was doing this last night, I saw elements of 5 major super heroes... might re-release this when we have Super Heroes in the fall)!

Actually, I didn't think anyone would remember Mutant Chronicles. That is where I got the inspiration for this ten years ago (you think I could write that backstory in an hour?) I did tweak the story to allow for them to be zombies. Just wrote that this morning... I just hope no one makes comments about him having a bare mid-drift or exposed nipples (let alone a nipple ring)!

Actually, I didn't think anyone would remember Mutant Chronicles. I'm a big fan of the Fury of the Clansmen boardgame. More, DoomTrooped CCG was sold here also in news kiosks.... and my father have one.... so i got a whole lot of cards for free Too bad, DT was a dumb game (it cannot stand against MTG... at least for what it was MTG at late '90). And finally, i think Paolo Parente is one of the best illustrator around (he draw also Rackham's Confrontation, which i know just 'cause i own the boardgame: Hybrid).

Good start for a figure Kila!
Speaking of MC. I just recently bought a perfect used copy of Siege of the Citadel from ebay based off of some research and Parduz's excellent review of it. Wow that's another game with a high WOW factor when you look at all the pieces and parts. Beautiful.

I have another character in my middle-Eastern army named Xander Vadim. This is a coincidence, because the army I am using for this is YOUR figures that look like the ninjas and riding camels and elephants.

Actually, this group is divided into two sects, there is the Holy group, called the Jin'Dan Brotherhood (or Brotherhood of the Jin'Dan), and they are the Magi, and use magical powers as well as archaic weapons (turned they back on technology).
Then there is the Midian Knights. They EMBRACE technology, and are basically power-mad pirates that only want to control land and steal technology.
Back to the Kimerlin Army, the Mutants are only PART of the Army. I am ALSO using your military forces, and Squirmydad's Exterminator tank (since your figures are turquoise, and so is his tank).
Now, I just need a name for my GERMAN FORCES... (Any ideas)?

Speaking of MC. I just recently bought a perfect used copy of Siege of the Citadel from ebay based off of some research and Parduz's excellent review of it. Uh.... can't remember i wrote a review of that game.... i'm getting old Anyway, i hope you don't be disappointed: i discovered, playing it, that while it shines with 5 players, it don't scale down with a lesser number of players. At the end, finding 4 ppl everytime is hard, and so we played Fury of the Clansmen a lot more: it is less "original" but it works very well no matters the # of players.

Well, one MC game to avoid is "WARZONE." This book is one of the most BEAUTIFUL works of art, but the rules were the worst ever!
This is the ONLY wargame book I currently own, and the reason why is IF my game ever to EVER go anywhere, I would want it to look like this...
If you could see a POEM, this book would be it!

Here's the review...maybe you didn't write it Parduz. But I saw your comments and may have thought you wrote it and were simply responding to others comments. And yeah trying to gather enough people to play it proper is a bummer. It's a beautiful game though. I'll try to get my hands on Fury. Yeah Kila, the book was cool...the rules were not. ~F

Oh, yeah, Drake's blog! Good luck for Fury: imho it deserve the efforts. I'm actually rewriting/re-editing the Legions of Steel rulebook (i own a portoguese version, and so i managed to grab a badly scanned english rulebook). It is very tuned towards firefights (melee combat is not the primary way to fight for none of the factions), with rules for covering fire (much like the Space Hulk overwatch), suppression fire (spreading bullets in a zone) and grenades.
I still have to play it but the ruleset seems the better, compared to Space Hulk, Space Crusade, Blood Berets, Fury of the Clansmen, Siege of the Citadel and Aliens (i "group" all these game in the same "genre").

Well, this month's Horde is BEASTMEN AND MUTANTS. This gave me the excuse I needed to finish this figure. I changed the basic shape a little to make it less bulky and more compact. He doesn't have arms right now, because I have something SPECIAL planned for that (if you have ever followed my posts in the past it isn't hard to figure out). Ok. I have to scan it, and do the back. The arms will be the tricky part. Hopefully he won't be disarmed for long! Attachments:

Ok, the back is done! That was fast. Now it will just be a matter of laying it out on the page, and doing the arms. I am planning on three figures and 6-9 arms to choose from. The arms will have a simple fold-over layout and the only difficult part will be the slot for the spikes. I am thinking about doing on figure with the spikes made to be bone, one metal, and the third as something else... maybe flesh over the spike with bits of bone showing through. Also, I plan on flipping one horizonatally... I may leave the mask on one blank so the modeller can modify it to make it more personal. I can see one as a "smiley face" and another as fangs, and another blank... come to think of it... I MAY leave them all blank so the modeller can make them all unique! What do you think? Attachments:

Thanks, fellas! I try... Here are the first two. Since the arms are going to be double-sided fold-overs, I am not going to have hands. That way the arms can be either a left or right arm. This is the Chainsabre and an Auto-cannon. So, just with what I have now, I can make the following combinations: Two Auto-cannons Two Chainsabres One Chainsabre and One Auto-Cannon. In case you were unclear, the red lines get cut out and the spike on the Mutant's arm goes through it. This will allow the figure to have a 2.5D appearance and allow a couple miniatures to have a LOT of options. Attachments:

I am still learning GIMP, and this is my first attempt at this. When I shrunk it down it lost all the detail. I am sure I can go back and clean it up when I do the coloring on it. All in all, it is always cool to build one of your figures, but I am quite disappointed with this one so far... most of my disappointment comes from the frustration of learning a new program, and not having it measure up to my expectations. I may have to take a break and work on more static figures... and revisit this one after that. Attachments:

Here he is with his arms reversed. If I prined out another one, I could have one with 2 auto-cannons and one with two chainsabres... or two like this. As I come up with more arms, it will be better. It is 1:00 in the morning here, so after I get a fresh look at it, I may not be so hard on myself and my meager "talent." Attachments:

One 16 bit guy to another, I also have issues when scaling in GIMP. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I think it has to do with the ppi that you set (advanced settings) when you open a new image but I don't know exactly. Also, if you import an image from somewhere it seems to bring its own ppi with it. If you figure it out let me know!

Whoo-hoo! Wow, I sure got this turned around! GIMP is a good program as long as you know what you are doing. I have used PAINT for years (when it was called PAINTBRUSH) long ago! I am pretty proficient in it, and can operate it fairly well. One of the biggest drawbacks with it was when it comes to re-sizing. The lines get thicker and it distorts the image making it look horrific (in a bad way). Well, COWBOYLELAND reminded me to "stick with what you know." (Whether he realized it or not). I got the inspiration to transfer my image from GIMP to PAINT using a quick cut and paste. I did it and the images look incredible. I did my basic layout, and it looks like there will be two mutants and 8 arms. I might play around with this but as it turns out, this is a great option to incorporate as many different types of weapons as possible. This is ALL good news. If I can squeeze in a few hours to do the shading and coloring... and to come up with the final weapons, this could turn out to be VERY USEFUL. SO, are there any weapon suggestions or requests for your ginormous hulker to be carrying? Speak now... or miss the boat. I have a CHAINSABRE (a giant chainsaw), an auto-cannon, and am planning on a heavy flame-thrower, missile Launcher and possibly my "Jaws of Death." That leaves 3 or 4 more. Any thoughts?
