I have an itch to scratch. I need to play with my X-Com adaptation ( tiagohackbarth.com/gurps-x-com) with paper minis. Terra Force is a perfect Fit for the X-Com Operatives, Gostofman has a Skyranger and a downed UFO, all that I need is that damned hostile extraterrestrials!

I think that Onemonk's Precursors can are fine for "grey" aliens

It´s a prototype. Aquanaut from X-Com: Terrror from the deep well... It´s not an alien but I will try to do the same using an alien sprite. ;D

That is a wide variety of aliens that you need to come up with.
How soon do you need them?

That Aquanaut is AMAZING! Shame that I'm playing UFO Defense and not Terror From the Deep, but I will save him for a rainy day! I managed some sectoids with Scarecrow's SG1 Precursors, mixed with game sprites. I think they are a better fit for the game sectoids than Jim's. Jim's precursors have too much bling and X-Com sectoids go around in the nude: (Added to the Forum Compilation #3 - www.onemonk.com/guest-dl.html )

Now the Ethereal. Minor changes I know that´s a little unfair to use a sprite done by other person... but I´m not a good artist...

this time, hand drawn ones... just "borrowing" the plasma gun sprite. Some sketches of a floater, sectoid and chrysalid (bottom). I´m not sure if I can draw the same thing over and over in different positions, because never tried before... let´s see.

I really like the 'Roswell type' alien in the upper right.

Great! I'm working with that floater, I liked the action stance, like he was floating away from the party and firing green bolts of flaming death at them! Anyway here is my initial take on him:

I must finish the Floater...
These poses are good. They'll match the Floater style. I seeing that my X-Com project isn't hopeless after all!

Hmm . . . that ethereal could be a proxy for Vorlon ambassador Koch.

Wow, I am impressed. I envy your drawing style! No matter what I draw, the creatures look like they are posing for a JCPenney catalog. Even my skeletons are in the same basic poses. Funny, I get people telling me I think outside the box on using a mapping program to make models, and rearranging Mech legs and arms in Mech attack, but I can't seem to draw a miniature that doesn't look like he's waiting for an elevator! I don't know... maybe in time... Great work, BTW, in case I didn't mention that.

OK, I've forgotten most of what I ever knew about drawing, but I know my problem is I lay everything out in my head like I'm drafting plans (which I kind-of am for 2.5d stuff) and the result is I get stiff symetrical figures. If I didn't want to turn it into a 2.5d fig later, I'd start with stickmen with lots of bend in the knees and spines that were not perpendicular to the ground. After that I'd have to sell my soul for some drawing talent, but at least it is a place to start.

www.posemaniacs.com/category/angle/v0I use this a LOT. I'm also pretty bored with the poses I've been using. Consider this gentlemen... At least you two can get something DONE! I like these figures Hackbarth & Bladegolem. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

My objective is a complete set of X-Com Ufo Defense Aliens. My talent for drawing isn't much to talk about, but I can push some textures on GIMP.
I really like Bladegolem poses, even if the lines are a little rough, they serve as a fondation for good figures as the half-finished floater demosntrates.
From my point of view this is a good ad-hoc team, two not so good artists can do something that is more than the sum of the parts.
Said that, I should continue the work on the floater, and also I got start something with these Chrissalid and Snakeman, they really deserve a chance to eat armor piercing rounds on the game table!

Well Hackbarth, let´s do both sets X-Com: Ufo Defense and X-com: Terror from the Deep. They´re similar and the alien treat will be complete (ground and ocean menace! poor players...) hehehe
