I agree with scenery/buildings, vehicles and 2D/3D figures should be separated--I think that a front-back figure flat is a good-looking, high quality, accessible, cheap, quickly-made, and most importantly an easy alternative to traditional plastic and metal minis. While I'm amazed by some of the stuff guys on here can do with 3D paper sculpting, to me that stuff should be judged like the art that it is, definitely in a different class of construction than creation of a 2D figure.
Also, I'm wondering if there should be a further distinction between big scenery combos, as in a diorama vs. table build.
For example, Tommygun's Illegal Aliens submission is definitely what I would consider a "diorama," with posed figures in a scene, including ground surface, terrain pieces, and backdrop.
Jerry's Harbor Town, which is amazingly done and clearly took skill and patience, I would consider more of a table build or themed scenery set.
While setting up my Western town, I had an internal monologue that kept asking, is this a diorama, or a full-blown table build?

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the matter of table build vs. diorama. It really seems better to have the two categories. The awards submissions are great to show the diversity of approaches... I've been linking them to friends to convince them of the potential of paper minis.
May I make a suggestion for the 2012 submissions? (If you say "No" it can't stop me from posting it here anyway...)
Perhaps next year you can have a separate post for each series of submissions. (E.g. one thread for Warband, one for single figure, etc.). It will help keep things more uniform and not so scattered.
Also, maybe have a thread where everyone can post all their stuff (and unlimited pictures). But on the judging threads just post ONE picture of each submissions. I guess what I am trying to say is, have a thread like th one that was here, BUT have three threads (one for each category) with only ONE picture of each submission. That way people can look at the pictures and make the judgement for each item they want to vote for.
Just my suggestions... afterall, who am I?
Game Designer, BETA Tester, Model Designer, Figure Designer... HEY! It's what I do...

Thank you to everyone who has voted this year. The polls are now closed. We will try and get the results out soon. And a very special thank you to all those who submitted. We're of to a great start and it will only get better as the paper model hobby grows.

shep: He basically says that he loves the flat design for being a flat, easy to store design. However, he does not like building cardboard minis, so he's very glad that he can buy these MDF versions.

shep: I found this website (https://flatpackforces.com/collections/fantasy) via a youtube video. They are offering 2D flat MDF-minis, and they have loads of One Monk designs up for sale. I was wondering, if they licensed the minis, or if this is art theft...
