Just so you know I have not given up completely; here are some figs my son asked me to make for the players in the campaign he is running. I've glued them up but I have not cut them out yet, so no pictures I'm afraid. warforged by cowboyleland, on Flickr

I take it these are 'based' figures??? Or will splaying the 'toes' allow them to stand on their own.
On the bottom figure, are the extra 'fingers' to wrap the sword?

Hey VK, you are right on all counts. For a base I plan to stick mine to 1" squares of clear plastic with poster putty. The extra fingers are to glue over the sword hilt after the sword is glued to the hands. I forgot to do that for the other two I have built the cross bow. It is fiddly but doable. I suggest trimming off the string. Chris

Just test built the guy at the top with the crossbow. I think I will go back and add fingers (warforged only have three) and let them fold their "hands" around their weapons. P9190026 by cowboyleland, on Flickr. I'm reasonably pleased

Cool!
Just think that there is no need for the string on the crossbow as the figure is so small.

That's awesome, CBL!
MY ONLY critism is the neck looks a little long. It could just be the picture, or maybe you had to do that to get the 2.5D effect.
Regardless, looks amazing.

I think there is room for more than one criticism Kil. The "super macro" picture really shows up my poor cutting. I'm going to break down and buy glasses soon, and maybe resolve to do all my cutting before midnight. I draw extra long necks so I can fold some of the neck under and create a chin. Looks like this one straightened itself out while I was fiddling with the camera. Stronger creasing next time! Thanks for the props Eddnic, I'm certainly not going to mess with a string, though VK's thread idea could work.

Once again Vermin King's instincts (see Sept 15 post above) prove reliable. With a little work the warforged will stand up without bases. I still recommend basing for gaming, but for photo's they look good without. Still haven't bought those glasses I keep talking about, as the big white chunk on the axe guys hand will attest. Ok... you make an AMAZING set of figures, and you draw attention to the fact that there are a couple cutting issues... Come on, man! I love your style and I this is INCREDIBLE work. Don't be so hard on yourself. This is like taking a picture of a model in a bikini standing in front of a Ferrari, and then saying, "Look at the gap in her teeth." You make this kind of figure, this level of excellence, only to berrate yourself? I think you need to realize just what a gift you have! Don't point out your weakness, show off your skill! Which there is obviously a lot there... (I hope this doesn't sounds condescending. I am just trying to encourage you. Please read it as so).

you know, if you were to do a fold-over for the bottoms of the feet with a heel on there, they would be even more stable. added weight at the bottom and better weight distribution.

That is true, but I have some heavy breathers in my group, I'm going to keep 'em stuck to the plastic. I'm even considering THICKER plastic.
