So I've been playing around with the layout a bit for second edition Bellicose. It's always a struggle to get something looking cool but still readable. This is the first page of the quick sheet to go in the front of the book (right after the ToC). P.S. Players may notice a few new rules ;D Attachments:

I'm no expert, but I don't see any problems.

The layout looks great and the type is very readable!
I don't know if the content is finalized yet, but in the Default Deployment section in the second sentence "Each player rolls a die and the lowest may decide to start deployment by place the first unit..." I would change the place to placing.
And then in the next part I would change it to "or by having their opponent place the first unit..."
Also in the Moving Out Of Combat section, I would change the second sentence to "The enemy player "then" chooses to "either" make immediate attacks with no other actions "for" the remainder of the round or "to" make no attacks but move and act normally..."
Sorry, its my Graduate assistant/editing mode kicking in. When reading through the page those were the only areas I noticed that kind of didn't flow smoothly. I really like the page layout and the opposing greyscale colors in the shooting modifiers chart. The darker brown edges and the lighter colored center really makes the overall page look nice. ;D
Also, I can't wait to add the new Dwarves to the game.

Hey thanks for the editing help! I can always use it. I'm often too close to my writing to notice things like that. The preview is mainly for layout purposes but it doesn't hurt to get the content right too. I will start work on writing the play-test rules shortly. I can get the rules up in fairly short time but editing the army lists may take a bit longer. Aaron and I are also going over the spell lists in a major way (spell casters will only be able to cast one spell per phase so now we can do more interesting things with the spells without over powering the magic [as an even further aside, if you want to suggest a spell now's the time to do it]).
I've still got to come up with something fitting for the page numbers. I might just end up with the same style used in 1st Edition.

Like the new look Nik, any chance the nifty sword graphic will make it into the new edition We'll have to get Aaron to color it first since the new book is going to be full color. It will be full of paper model pics and I've already got the ok from three major paper model vendors to use their stuff in said pictures. I want to get the rules out here so we can do some playtesting but the HOARDS/Labrat's sets are keeping me busy (not to mention the normal job I have that actually pays the bills). BTW, it's good to see ya around. Now we know your work didn't kill you off.

Here's an update. I've tried to squish an overview of Bellicose into two pages and here it is. You can get the more expanded rules over on this other thread.
