Hey I've got an idea. I wanted to figure out a game I can quickly play by myself or with my friends, and for it to be a quick, exciting, unpredictable game, so I set up some basic rules:
Character moves are by the inch, just eyeball it.
Several different settings for speed and strength for your character, say if speed is 3 and strength is one, each turn you get you get to move three square inches forward, back, left, or right. They fight a monster, and when they attack, it takes away what the character rolls, times ten.
Advantage tabs just like my racing games. With different powerups. Can either be scattered accross the board, or drawn before the game.
You roll your die to determine the amount of HP you take away when attacking, different levels of strength (1, 2, 3) determine the amount of HP you take away with each die roll (x10, x20, x30). Then you roll the die for the enemy. Each enemy has strength and speed settings, too, and you can flip a coin to attempt to run away, heads you can go, tails you have to continue.
The enemies will either keep moving down the board notch by notch like Space Invaders, or follow the players.
The goal is to either KO (I don't like my characters dying!) all the enemies, or reach the other side of the board first.
The amount of times you can flip the coin when fighting the enemy depends on your character's speed setting and matches the setting's number (1, 2, 3)
Please tell me how you like this! I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun, and you will too! I know it's not as complicated as even the simplest rules systems you showed me, but at least it sounds fun!
