Rough draft completed, rough build done, much tweaking to be done; This is one of the projects that I thought I'd lost awhile back. It doesn't have a playable interior, and I need to rework the roof overhang so that it'll have a playable exterior. Also needs some real stairs instead of a ramp, the current piece is a junky ramp placeholder. It's based heavily on the shrine complex at Izumo, Japan; This should be an end of March release for me at the speed I work.

WOW! I like this! It will tie-in well with my XIARN DYSNASTY warriors (when I get to it). I will wait patiently for this. Well done!

Absolutely fantastic!
Are you sure that the roof can't just sit on the walls and be removable? Just duplicate the walls and glue to the opposite side of the outer walls and it would be a playable interior.
Is this 15mm?

I woke up thinking of a different way to build the roof to make it removable so I can do an interior. It should make the roof easier to build too so a winner all around, if it works the way I'm picturing it.

I don't think it would be too difficult to kitbash. Probably easier to build than design, also. I'd have the roof supports run to the ground beside the stairs with a brace near the bottom so that the whole roof could be pulled out of the way for use.
This building has a lot of potential. Anxious to see it available.
Okay, this is an aside ... sort of, but I found an older kit through Wayback Machine that made their posts by having accordian folds wrapped by the exterior texture. \/\/\/\/\__ __ __ __ Not to scale, but have you ever tried this method?

Totally forgot to reply to your query, sorry. I've heard of but haven't tried the method you described above, I'm shooting for simple builds in all parts of this though. I'm still plugging away at this project, it's just undergone a bit of an expansion. At one time I thought I would jump back and forth between steamtank projects and Asian architecture projects for my various releases. I found too much jumping around between project styles throws me off a bit though. Also, I decided I didn't want to just release the shrine and then have people wait a month or two for the other bits that go with it. The other bits are a second set I'm calling 'shrine grounds' at the moment. It's a set of gates, walls, and stone lanterns. The gate part is done, I made the wrong walls for a shrine complex though, got carried away, so they'll end up elsewhere. The walls for the shrine complex will be more rough wood in texture instead of whitewashed stone. The gate; The gate, some walls (wrong ones), and the shrine structure together for a scale comparison; I may have made the gate too tall. ;D The gate doors will have both wood and banded metal texture options. (pay no attention to the textures in the 3d previews, they're just stock placeholders to remind me of what I'm doing.)

Getting back to work on finishing old projects, the shrine model will be available in mid-December.
