Hi there! Just for relax (I needed it deeply after Elves and Pegasi sets:) I dig out never released project: Horror Gore and SurvivalTo be honest, personally I'm not a big fan of this kind of movies/comics/novels/games... but who am I to argue with the market? Figurines, as you can see, are not colored (just some early color concept layered for each character) and defacto whole set is not completed; ie I'm not convinced how many and which figures should be included. So I think that this kind of set should contain ca. 5-6 basic figures + variations (size/colors/some minor changes in poses and accessories) OK, my preliminary list:- Mummy - Warlock/Necromancer (although I'm NOT sure here - rather Dark Fantasy perhaps???) - Ghoul (aka Flesh Eater) - Undead (obviously whized one! - Werewolf - She-vampire (ie not exactly vampire - can't find proper English name/description right now: but it's drawn girl who attracts and seduces wayfarers/travelers and then shows her real "ID" - usually when it's already too late for escape for lured ones, when they realized the truth;) Some figures might be more or less easily modded or differently posed - like Mummy or Werewolf - in fact I got several versions of each. Just to complete the whole picture I got also some easy to build, basic but kept in the similar art-style, "background scenery" - just some gothic-like chapels, ruined barracks/factory and old cemetery settings etc (although obviously you can easily find many other, often more advanced and much better looking scenery from well established publishers, some of them well known on this board:) WHAT'S MISSING?I suspect that some Skeletons - but I hate them (just imagine - draw and colour so many bones - REAL HORROR!!!) ;D I would also avoid as much as possible explicit gore, ie too many blood and especially(!) guts... (frankly speaking I've included some gore elements into early version of teaser - but I don't like it as it looks for me kinda... disgusting) >>> So - what's YOUR opinion - I wouldn't dare to ask if you wish to get this kind of set, but... >>> is it a good BASIC setup or should I add some new (which?) figures? Thanks for your attention - I'm looking forward for your comments and advices!

Hi Mesper, a really BASIC and generic STANDARD FANTASY setup for HORROR would be (off my hat): - SKELETON [yip] - (Gory) ZOMBIE [yes! GORY ...] - Ghul - Ghost - Vampire/Vampire Bat - Werewolf/Wererat/Werebear/ ... [Lycanthropes/Changers] - Mummy [never saw a Hot Mummy Chick - like in a Clark Ashton Smith story] - Lich (evil and rotten Necromancer/Wizard/Priest Undead) - some kind of (lesser) Devil/Demon Your figures so far are marvellous as usual ... very great pose and suspense - Werewolf is exceptionally explosive/full of muscle power ... . There are some Lurker Ghosts/Undead/Demons in some Fantasy games (D&D 4th Ed.), which use their female forms to trick the wayfarers: Succubi, Lamiae, Bog Hags ... .

Hmm... It must be very scary-titled thread... or perhaps no interest at all with zombies, ghouls (ok, that's understandable - these looks not tasty) nor even werewolves or mummies...

The term for a woman that attracts men then kills them is either: 1) Ex-Wife 2) Siren! I don't know... I have JUST now seen this thread. DOn't worry, maybe people will take notice of it. -OR- Just finish it, and people will say, "Where did THIS come from?" and buy it!

There is a lack of werewolf figures. I would buy a werewolf-only set.

Since you are feeling ignored, I thought I'd say that I think the teaser pictures look great and that Paladin made a very complete list of creatures for this genre. I could do without the skeletons; everybody does skeletons. The tough part is the scariest things are the ones you can't see.

i like skeletons, yes everybody does them, but they always look good. I do agree that we needs lots more werewolves and vampires on here.

Oo... thanks everybody for comments!!! Since you are feeling ignored... Oh.. I wasn't too serious... But agree with you and PhantomBaz that skeletons are overused (although they are close to " scariest" category -- you can see them but you also can see through them... so it's kinda 50:50) ;D There is a lack of werewolf figures. I would buy a werewolf-only set. =>>>THIS! Sounds interesting! Werewolf PACK! Various phases of changing presence (from human to werewolf), plus various poses - attacking, running, jumping, hiding/ creeping... But as I understand you mean "classic" werewolves (ie humans who change shape/aspect during full-moon etc) not wolf-like creatures with armor, weapons etc (it's sort of Reivaj specialty -- his bugs, catfolks etc are superb and I don't want enter his field) I love that werewolf and that sexy mummy Heh... walking bandages... what's hidden becomes often more appealing

Let's face it... even I have done skeletons! Ok, I think that you are getting a good idea of what to produce. I might make the suggestion that instead of "Horror" you should call it "THINGS THAT GO 'BUMP' IN THE NIGHT." Focus on Werewolves, Vampires and that Mummy! Maybe with your talents, you could make a mound of rats, a flock (gaggle... swarm) of bats, and that kind of thing. Instead of zombies and skeletons, focus on more unique/original figures that haven't been used to death (no pun intended... that's a first). In case I didn't mention it, these figures are FANTASTIC! That werewolf is the BEST I have EVER seen, hands down! Ok, I think you understand what I am saying...

Armored and not. Hell, throw in a werewolf in a space suit that I would find a way to use him! Werewolf in WWII uniforms! Nazi Werewolves! And Allied too, why not!? Just give me werewolves!

I think that Hackbarth is on the right path! I've been after you to do some Sci-Fi stuff for as long as I've know you! Seriously... With your quality of work, you can hit this one out of the park!

Actually set is still in "under construction" state... To be honest I was inspired/tempted (retracted in fact! with WEREWOLF PACK idea so started sketching... Then figured that MUMMIES might be also very funny/usefull thus nice standalone set. Well it's kinda dungeon crawling cliche - dusted, cowered with spider's web ancient tombs / sarcophaguses / chests... and raising/awaking mummies... So it looks that at least 2 additional separate sets with rich-and-funny content might be possible! But... then what with the other characters (vide preview graphic) Well, it's possible to make Vampires (actually it might be even interesting as standalone set!) but all these other Ghouls, Witches, Necromancers... somehow I don't feel/treat these, at the moment at least, as enough interesting/funny material for dedicated sets. Plus wouldn't it be considered as watering too much theme? So, while working in background on Mummies and Werewolves, I'm considering kinda basic/teaser set with COMBINED archetype characters/minis (including mentioned Ghouls, Necromancers, some Vampires and Werewolves and Mummy) and then additional "expansion" sets. Hmm... dazzled and confused... ;D

I'm kinda tired with historical / realistic sets, so I'm back to this thread and set... As you can see figurines are almost finished - still some changes possible and final touch needed. This set lead idea:dangerous, horrific creatures / monsters threatening travelers and adventurers - in ancient tombs, catacombs, old forests, abandoned houses, wastes etc... So no mages, wizards or other more classical fantasy creatures etc. QUESTION #1Should I add more dark colors, more stains, blood (on clothes, skin) etc... ? QUESTION #2How should I name these creatures visible on preview? Mummy - OK, mummy is a mummy, so no problem here. +there be also "Royal" mummy version - with tiara/crown and red cloak (some "face" changes and different hands possible) The big green one - Ghoul or Corpse Eater? btw: this one is standing near opened grave - but perhaps it would be more "universal" with simple/ standard ground (some sandy or grassy?) The darkish attacking monster in background - Reaperr? +there will be more colour versions - greenish, blood red etc. Lake Witch, she's sinked and not a vampire - she is living in lakes, slow running rivers etc. seducing and and attacking not careful enough travelers... how would you name her in English? +I'm considering another version of this figurine - vide small bluish sketch (so there might be 2 versions in set) Undead/Rotten Pirate Queen... I'm not convinced if this figurine should be included into this set? So far there is no Zombie... don't like these creatures very much, but perhaps one zombie could take place instead of Undead Pirate Queen? (Another thing is that IF zombies - then it should be full standalone set:) I'd appreciate suggestions.

In english fiction, these kinds of creatures usually show up in slavic settings, so we kept the slavic name. The closest english equivalent would be "mermaid", but we already use that for something else.

In some celtic legends "Kelpies," which lure people into the water to drown them so they can be eaten can take the form of either women or horses. They catch more children with pony rides, more men with hot chicks.

People who committed suicide could not be buried in holy ground, so they were often buried at crossroads. I have definitely higher probabilities for travelers running into vampires and zombies at crossroads than at other places.
As the player-character party comes to a place where the trail crosses a stream, the players ask what they see. I say "They see a beautiful maiden bathing in the stream." They ask, "Is she a goose-girl, a fairy princess or a kelpie?" I say, "Well, guys, there's only one way to find out!"
Have fun! Steve

Gore / bloody paper minis - are you OK with it? Please advice: 1. Would you accept as it is/don't you mind OR you think that's not appropriate for paper minis (too bloody and /or unnecessary cruelty): -these heads (well, one would be enough - just wanted to show front and back)? -some bloody stains, blood on hands etc. ? -you don't mind more bloody content but in less "realistic" version (but c'mon - then what about all those zombies with severe wounds, bare bones, opened skulls with brains and buckets of blood...?) 2. IF you'd accept more bloody content (heads, blood etc.) - should I mark such a set with warning: MATURE CONTENT / 18+Of course, if more bloodish/gore content could be acceptable, I can include more than 1 version (with heads&blood, only blood, without heads and blood), so gamers/users will have a choice.

More choice is better. My DM really loves creeping people out, and I'm sure he is not the only one. There is probably a market for the really gory stuff. I don't have a use for it now, but you never know about the future.

Since it's a horror set, a little gore is completely expected. Who am I kidding? A LOT of gore is completely expected. Mortal wounds, bucket-loads of blood, headless bodies and body-less heads are all staples of the genre and commonly appear in all mainstream miniature lines. The average gamer turned 18 around 18 years ago, so we're not little kids anymore.
That said, there is a line between tasteful gore and disgusting gore, just like there's a line between artistic nudity and straight-up porn. I don't think yours is close to crossing that line yet, so I'd say you're okay.

@ Cowboyleland and Bravesirkevin - thanks for feedback! Here is another one preview - alternate version of ancient princess mummy - with cloak and this Egyptian thing on her head (tiara?) Man, isn't she real hottie?... or rather she WAS, circa couple thousand years ago! Actually I'm workingon additional versions of this particular figurine - with scepter, wand and some ancient weapons perhaps? Still I'm not sure yet regarding zombie - got some figurines in half-ready status - perhaps stand alone zombie set would be better solution? But in fact I don't understand popularity of zombie-focused movies, games, comics etc... well, de gustibus...

Okum's Zombie Furries is the only part of the current zombie fad that I understand, besides Sean of the Dead, which is brilliant. Even so I think a zombie set would probably sell well, and maybe and Egyptain Tomb set with jackal headed guardians and sphynxes as well as mummies would be good. I kind of feel like I have seen a set like that somewhere, but I don't know where and it might not have been paper.
also, the flesh that is showing through the bandages looks a little too fresh for being burried in the desert for even a short amount of time.

If I know mesper, there will probably be an Egyptian army in the Ancient Warriors series, somewhere down the line.
These mummies just whet my appetite for it!

Jabbro Jones did a set of Egyptian-style figures (Your Just Deserts, or something like that). I started one, but got side-tracked due to my short attent... OH! Shiny! What was I saying? Any way, I, personally, am not a big one for severed heads... skulls on chains (like a trophy) are totally acceptable, though! (Just MY opinion). If I know you, Mesper, there will be plenty of each figure to find the one you want. Perhaps you could be like Darkmook and have the figures in various zombie forms. The mummy could look "fresh" and then have a more "greenish" version, followed by a completely rotted version. (Once again, just my opinion). I don't know... instead of the severed heads (or in addition to that version), I would like to see her with two machetes, or something. Maybe sai... or some other short sword/ dagger. That is just my thoughts....

Almost ready... almost... There is more figurines than shoved on cover preview and most of minis got their resized (Ghoul and Reapers) or alternate versions (Mummy is leading here), so in some cases these might be counted as new/standalone ones. Coming soon!
