One thing I would like to see added to the high dock would be ladders. Ladders would be used for just getting around as opposed to moving goods. And it never hurts to have a few ladders around.

A ramp with tabs....that actually sounds like it would work.
My solution is blue sticky-tac. You know....the stuff they use at schools to stick kid's artwork to the wall....? Looks like blue playdough.
A little piece of that on the bottom of a figure (metal or paper) will stop it from sliding around the board, and will temporarily "stick it" to a sloped surface.
And yeah, ladders were part of the plan but they got forgotten along the way somehow. I'll do some at some point.
As for making different sized bits...that's why there's one page with just the textures. Mounting them on heavy cardboard, you could make any size you want.... For a larger area, I was thinking you could take a box (like one of those computer paper boxes), cut it around the edge at the right height, turn it over and texture the bottom. Then use the high docks around the outside. Would certainly give the illusion of the whole thing being on posts....

I wasn't thinking that big. I trimmed a little height off a shoe box so that the heights would match up.
Excellent news on the ladders

Excellent! I was hoping for something a bit more common. This fits the bill nicely

The alternative to tabs and blue tac (one of my favourite solutions for a plethora of problems)on the ramps is slots for the bases. I used slotted ladders on a ship I built once. Hey, notches in the rails above each rung of the ladders would let you place a fig where ever you liked!
BTW: Welcome turtlesniper. Great handle! Sir Rob has just the fig for your avatar:http://cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sirrob01&action=display&thread=2322
scroll down until you see it.

How wide is that ladder intended to be? It feels very wide. Is that right?
...measuring...
OK. About 2" - if you want mini's to stand in it, that is about right...
At scale that's more than 9', which is 3x-4x a standard ladder. But, I think the playability is worth it. I think I'll mod this to be completely see-through, which will cut down on the bulk. Build, cutfile, and pix probably tonight.

Thanks. Eventually will there be a Laketown/Vikings Odds and Ends pdf?
I've been playing around looking up various searches on Vikings. I didn't realize that York was at one time a Viking city. They had various foundry levels in York from blacksmith to artisan. They even did glassware. One odd image that wouldn't apply to Laketown, because we know they had barrels and casks, is a picture of Vikings unloading a ship. The goods being unloaded were in baskets or boxes that were shaped like your fairing model, only smaller. I don't know if that was 'typical'.
I really like the way this project is coming together.

Gang - cutfiles and kitbashes for the Laketown Ladder are up. cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fantasyadventuregsd&action=display&thread=3964Grendelsmother64 - Can I distribute kitbashes with modified versions your textures with a few these? The "inside" version wants your dock surface on the base, and the 50% version also wants the reduced versions of your textures. I haven't removed any of your copyrights, and to use the rest of the cutfiles, they will still have to download the originals. if you'd like to see them before you decide, just PM me and I'll send you links.

Very nice! I see what you mean about the figures not sliding. I wish I had more time to download these and start building. Looks VERY great so far...

I have one small request. When you release your houses, could you leave the background white (instead of the tan). I realize what you are wanting to do, but anything to save on some ink... These are so very cool! Thanks, again!

Hi, Grendelsmother. I've been away for a while and I have to say, this project is shaping up beautifully. I can see combining this with FDG's Rivers and Streams set to put together an amazing encounter space.
Do you have plans to build a sort of chieftan's longhouse? Something like the great hall of the riders of Rohan in LOTR comes to mind, only with a fish motif, instead of the horse motif.
Cheers,

Oops. That was a mistake...I was goofing around with the saturation and colour profile and didn't even notice it affected the background. I'll fix that...and pay more attention next time. And the ramp is here: inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/06/more-laketown-dock-bits-ramp-and-bridge.htmlGM. PS Afet: I've had a few ideas for a larger buildings. Something along the line of a viking longhouse (google Ale Viking) and also something more like a Stave Church (or stavkirke).

Those would be truly remarkable.
The stavkirke would probably be considerable work to layout, but it would sure be a centerpiece for the project

The stavkirke would probably be considerable work to layout, but it would sure be a centerpiece for the project I agree. The chieftan's lodge should dominate the scene. But I needn't be as ornate or have as many layers as the one in the picture, which is a bit over the top; sort of viking baroque I do like the scale-like shingles, though. They evoke the fish motif.
