This was originally a commissioned project by Dave Winfield (Koolwheelz), to honor Old Troll, another designer. The guy who commissioned it told Dave that he could offer it for sale or give it away, because he just wanted it. Dave asked for conditions to give it away, and Old Troll suggested we guess his weight as of July 17th. I won!!! 12 page model with over 200 parts. I'm going to have to study the instructions diligently before I start that project. But isn't she a beauty?

200+ parts... whoa! You should get many hours of enjoyment. And congrats on winning it (that makes the hours/cost ratio very high )

This would be the most detailed model I have ever done. It scares me a bit, but there are several build threads, and his instructions are detailed and straightforward. I will be doing the simplified version without the clear canopy and detailed interior.
Frankly, I only have one plane that has come out passable. I have issues keeping round parts 'true'. Most of the planes I've started end up going to my son to creatively finish off in fireworks and flame. Before the drought, one was floated down the creek to some unknown fate ... planes aren't my thing. I have to do this one right.

Congrats! How big is the final model supposed to be? At 12 pages it sounds either huge or fiddly.

13 inch wingspan.
Here's part of the description:
Paper Model Details: over 200 parts including detailed construction diagrams, fuselage and wing formers, recessed and detailed wheel wells, detailed landing gear, detailed cockpit, optional template for clear or printed canopy, optional wing pylons, optional drop tanks, detailed graphic textures and realistic weathering/surface features. Degree of Difficulty: 3/5.
I think it's 3/5 for someone better than I am ...
Honestly, the instructions are very well laid out ( I wouldn't expect anything less from Dave Winfield ). I should be able to struggle through and have a decent model. I've seen folks build his models in less than a week, but I look at it as an on-going project putting in a few hours a week into.

How on earth did he do the cockpit? That's just freaky--in a fantastic way.

What amazes me is seeing how other modellers detail his detailed cockpits! Holy Moley. You can see more of his work at his website cutandfold.info/There's a link to his Message Board on the left where you can see some of the builds and his design threads

Wow! and you do clear canopies on 1/72 scale builds? I am very much impressed.
I'd have to second the recommendation for papermodelers.com. There is a huge group of paper aviation fanatics there.

Yes i do transparent canopies. I use a very thing tranparent plastic. Is the package of sandwichs that sells in food shops. I harvested them for the plane canopies . Yesterday i´d finish a italian ambulance in 1/72 scale form exclusive models, is a polish site with VERY VERY good 1/72 tanks and vehicles from WW2. They came white and you can paint them with paints, like i´m doing, but i´ll start to paint them in photoshop before i build the model. Great site

I see that you are already familiar with Zio Prudenzio's planes, but I don't see the Hawker Sea Fury in the downloads. Is that an older model?

The Sea Fury is not from zioprudencio, i don´t remember from where it comes , i remember that there was a PDF version (clean), this JPG wheaterer version (dirty), and a Canadian version too. In the zioprudencio´s model i try to make them more details. For The SM79 in the photo, i´d make all the interior in photoshop, controls, seats and some other interior detail. I´d made the machine guns with cardboard and black telephone´s wire. I´d make hollow the down engines for the landin gear, and detailed the motors with a gloster galdiator´s motor from stahlhart model www.hoxity.de/papercraft/index.htmlEdit: i was looking for the sea fury site but it doesn´t exist anymore, if you want i can send you the files because it was a free model

No, that's okay. I have so many planes on my hard drive and usb drives that I will probably not get around to, but thanks for the offer. I wouldn't mind seeing more of your planes. You should post them in the gallery some time.
