The theme for this months HOARD is World War WeirdThis can be any sort of miniature on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your figures, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category.

Not entirely on topic, but since I don't do figs very often I thought I'd share the Wookie for the May hoard: I'm really proud...he started off as a Paint time-waster doodle, but I thought he looked so good (for my doodling) that I had to finish him off. He's 300 dpi, so I hope the scale is OK (if not, feel free to adjust him to 30mm for the hoard) GM

Alternate WW2 style stuff......
Think Hellboy, Sky Captain and Captain America and all of those WW2 mechanical walker games.
Basically...... if you turned your style to WW2 you've got it!!!!!!

It's really too bad you couldn't give us any useful examples of what this is, Rhannon. I got VERY inspired! I need to finish the Wizards set, so I can build some of those tank walkers. TOPO has some great stuff on his site, as well... I have a great idea for a cloning chamber. I think I am going to start on it right now!

Awesome... thanks for the explanation... LOL so basically i just need to move my "Gods of Steam" time period up by a hundred years or so and we done hehe... I have something that is perfect for it... so here is my submission to the May Hoard. I call then the "little zerstorung"... they were secret autonomous mobile guns that was developed by the hand of Moriarty. The scientist who built the first three had them set to search and attack human heat signatures. They never realised their mistake. It took a squad of heavy armoured troopers 3 hours to secure the lab. Not much remained of the scientists. Shortly after the project was abandoned. Rumours have surfaced of a successful reactivation of the program, but none alive have seen these small silent creeping destruction machines. Rumour also claim that they hunt in packs, have a hive mind and kills all humans indiscriminately. There is no way to confirm or deny these rumours. Attachments:

Inspired by the many great references posted by Rhannon and Parduz, I made this. And only after scanning, cleaning up and starting to draw the figure's back, did I notice that I made some bad pose choices. So I'll try and make another version for the hoard... (additional references: Victor from Darkstalkers and the commando from Alien vs. Predator arcade game.) Attachments:

I notice that I made some bad pose choices. I don't see nothing too bad: you could adjust it by just touching a bit here and there (making the feet flat solve the leg/feet perspective, and making his left arm "over" his chest).

Thanks for the advice, Parduz! Actually my problem besides adjusting the feet is that I wasn't being able to redraw the back view of that machine gun arm... So I took the easy way out and made another version with a simpler pose. I'll have to study the existing miniatures that have more dynamic poses to try to learn how to do them. I took the opportunity to look for pictures of german uniforms and a machine gun and incorporated those references in the figure. Now I have to color it... Attachments:

Inspired by the many great references posted by Rhannon and Parduz, I made this... Well, exactly the same for me! So I did "Panzer Gunny" in Arctic Camo -- vide attached preview. It is kinda WWII Ally paratrooper with late-medieval helmet (it's in fact Italian-style Salada -- vide condotiers -- so we got here another Italian reference:)) and with futuristic heavy-gun plus some plate armor. Hmm... but is it weird enough? Figurine is ready -- but I'm going to made also Jungle Camo and perhaps Desert Camo. All figures should also have some minor variations -- mostly weapons and hi-tech equipment probably (or some futuristic swords?). Hopefully there will be enough "spare" time for this... Attachments:

OK -- here is another one Panzer Sturm Trooper - in Forest / Jungle Camo. Still preliminary version and only front side due to time limitations, nevertheless this trooper is (hope so at least) even more weird then previous one! ;D He is equipped with special night-vision, fully hi-tech helmet with laser aiming device, radio and more sophisticated weapon (with nano bayonet attached). Unfortunately during Weird Times technology went into some different trails so big rucksack is needed for all computing stuff... This one is higher rank then Arctic and belongs to famous Golden Eagle Legion, plus he is veteran - after he was nasty wounded his foot was replaced with full-metal bionic one... (Plus just for the record: cloak was changed/corrected compared to Arctic Edition so now it overlaps bag and leg) And if you think that this one might be even too weird... wait till you see Desert Edition in full body titanium-plate armor (with cooler obviously!), robo-arms and combined automated laser guns... Well, actually all this WWW is surprisingly quite funny theme/subject - so perhaps it might be worth to consider standalone/dedicated mini (or even full?) set? Attachments:
