I saw where some comapany had some small tokens to represent starships the other day. Dragnoz has his HUGE fleet of awesome ships. Well, being lazy... I mean, not inspired by a lot of small pieces to build, I came up with another really cool idea... Attachments:

These little ships can be made in 25mm to 50mm, and require nothing more than a simple set of easy folds. Attachments:

Granted, it is nothing Earth-shattering, but it is a good concept. There can be other things like fins and such that can make various models all unique, and easy to build and fun to play with. I am thinking you can make even smaller fighters (single sheet) that can be quite small and travel in squadrons. Attachments:

Either that is a really BIG nickel... These are 1 3/8" inches long, and after you fold and glue them, it takes less than a minute to cut them out and shape them. You print out the page of fighters you want (there will be four per squadron) and each squadron will have a different "stripe" on it. I will do bases that will be a Star-Field pattern, and will most-likely offer the bases in 1 inch (25mm) and 1 1/2" (38mm) hexes. I have plans drawn up for 5 ships so far (a shuttle, this fighter, a second fighter, a transport and a gunship). Once I get these out there, I am not quite sure what to do with them. Perhaps it is time to release another game (now that EoW is out... it just needs more armies). Ok. There you have it. Any thoughts? Attachments:

I filled in the blank space so they stand out more. This is the general idea, fold in half like a standard figure, and then just shape it. Ignore the red arrows. I was going to go another direction with these... Attachments:

I like these. They are 2.5d, and you know I'm a sucker for that. Unless I missed something, I don't think anyone is ever going to see the bottom, why not just fold for durability and leave the bottom white? It would save ink (yes, I'm THAT cheap ) [caps used advisedly ;D]

You are correct, Sir! When I did the prototype (which was 5 1/5 inches long [145mm]) you could see the underside. These are the prototypes, so I will be re-doing them from scratch. The bottom's will be white with a simple "GMG 2013" on the bottom. I have 5 solid ships in my head, I just have to work on getting them on paper. I had planned on various wings and fins that would slide on, but at this scale it would be unnecessarily fiddly. I HATE that! The fins I have planned will all be attached, and you simply fold them up. This is the first time I have seen anything done like this. I have been doing this with my figures for years (unless they have a gun across their chest, then it looks like their weapons are bent), so I thought I would give this a try. Any thoughts or input about the texture? Suggestions? Let me know.

Any thoughts or input about the texture? Suggestions? Let me know. The textures are what gives the feel of the scale. So, as you can just pretend their real scale, you have the choice to make them look like small fighter (like the one you pictured) or make them look like medium/big ships by "ultradetailing" (i mean, drawing everything very tiny) the textures. I'd suggest to draw the bottom side, though. Someone may want to use it to have double thikness, and perhaps you could end with some wing that, once folded, show both the sides. If the model size is about 1 inch, the ink wasted for the bottom will be not so much (and i'm SO MUCH cheap myself )

Good points, Parduz!
Some of the other fighters and things will have fins that will need to have the underside detailed.
I was playing around with various "weapons" that would have blue, red, green and yellow arrows so you can see what weapons you have. I think I will change that, and have some fun ideas for that. ;D
