Here is the pencil sketch of a Storm Giant. I need to add some armor and possibly a cape. Any thoughts? Cowboy or Parduz? Attachments:

Wow, I don't think I come anywhere near the eponymous master of Parduzing, but I can't refuse a direct request, so here it goes: IF he is supposed to have human proportions (which is usual when it comes to giants but nonsensical when it comes to physics and anatomy) I'm thinking his arms look long and his legs look short. I think longer thighs (in particular) would solve this and then longer shins to keep the legs in proportion. BTW I always wanted to see someone tackle a Science fiction giant rather than a fantasy one. By which I mean a humanoid anatomy scaled up and then proportioned to take the strains of gravity. The tallest man in history needed ankle braces (and actually died when a wound from their chafing became infected) I think you would end up with a t-rex looking guy: big legs, thick waist (to avoid lower back problems) and proportionately small arms. They could be long and thin though, and without the t-rex jaw maybe bulkier arms could be supported by the back and legs) . Anyway, not what you are going for, but I've been wanting to slip that into conversation for years Oh, yeah, and I like the lightning bolts on his helmet

Well, I didn't see your comment until AFTER I inked it. But, yes, you are right. I happened to notice this after I scanned it. Perhaps his longer arms are due to severe upper body strength, similar to an ape or gorilla. Seeing as his sword is nearly 15 feet (three meters) long, then perhaps that is why his arms are longer. Also, his staunch legs shorter in comparison to help with his balance. So, as you can see, I realize I messed up, but I can make up excus... I mean, legitimate reasons for the misaligned appendages. Any other thoughts? Let me know. ;D BTW, your Sci-Fi giant in interesting, and a little disturbing. Attachments:

I like him. Slightly alien proportions are good for fantasy races. Now you just have to be consistent if you make any more.

I may use some of your thoughts when I go to do things like Cyclops. I doubt I will be doing more Giants any time soon. But when I do, I will heed your advice. I couldn't help but think he would make a good dwarf, too. Hmmmm...

Geez! Kil, you really give me short time to answer before inking, uh? Ok, what i see (sticking to human-like proportions) is: 1) Legs are short, with the "shinbone" lower part (how it's called the "lower" part of a leg?) being the the ones that need more lenght. 2) the two legs are of different lenght. This 'cause the two knees are at the same level but his right leg is angled and still have the right foot flat. This could be if the left tight is bent forward, but in this case we should have a clue by looking at the skirt, which should have different wrinkles 'cause the tigh is pushing from under it. Being the perspective of the leg-guards the same, my brain understant the the two legs are straight and the right one is longer 3) Again his right leg, i'd "rotate" in perspective the kneecap and the "middle line" of the leg guard to the outer, so that they align to the center of the foot. About proportions: interesting thoughts, cowboy Now, Kil, all of your human figures are, more or less, "short" legged ("short-limbed?" i mean in contrast with, say, what we see in Superhero comics or other illustrations, i don't mean it's wrong) so you could stay with that proportions and stick to your style. In the end, it's a nice figure, with the only "problem" (to my eyes) that his right leg seems longer and ... deformed.... "Valgus"?. The last observation i'd like to do is that, if this is a giant, say, three time of a human, you could help this illusion by drawing his details three times smallers. I mean that by just looking at the image without anything else that suggest how much hi's tall, i would say that he's a viking, 'cause the line thickness, the details, the reflections on the metal, etc are in the "same scale" of a human. Dunno if this makes a sense.... i hope you can understand. - edit - UH! i forgot: his right leg gives that impression to me also 'cause it is too central: the angled tight should touch the skirt, and -in the end- the visible part of the leg should be moved a bit outward

Sorry, I didn't give you more time to respond... Ok, here it the stumpy-legged, slightly-deformed Storm Giant. He was a fun figure to do, even with his leg issues. Over all, I am pretty happy with him. Attachments:

Good colors, reminds me of a figure who would be at home in a Greek pantheon setting. When you wrote cloak my first thought was of something less elegant than your final figure; I was thinking of something like ragged strips that used to be a cloak but has been whipped and shredded by storm winds. Perhaps it would be a more appropriate look for a "Storm Sprite" figure.

Thanks for the encouragement, Squirmydad! Storm Sprite?! Oh, I LIKE that. I can have various sized figures. Great concept! ;D

There are quite a bit more projects I am currently juggling, as well.

Great figs Kila! I especially like the ratling and the goblin. I like the idea of the Troll rider but I think the troll could move up the disgusting scale a bit. His arms look like he's a shaved and oiled body builder. Maybe you could add hair or warts or scars before you colour him? I like the little jockey.

Thanks! I am happy with the way they look so far.
Good points, CBL!
You know me... I always do something cool in the coloring stages (I am out of ink until Wednesday, so I can't color them until then).
I joked about the rider yelling, "WOOTINI!" ;D
Each figure has something I love about them, and something that I don't. I love the goblin's position of the crossbow. It doesn't have big "triangles" or precarious bow pieces (like with the elven archer). When I do the back, that might be a pain, though.

Loving them all so far - they going to be released in one of your commercial sets???

These are actually random figures from various sets I have in the works.
Some are for a set I am doing with Kane (he hasn't been around for a while here, but we are good friends).
Some are for a set I am doing with Revgunn.
The rest are floaters (going to be used as fillers).
But to answer your question, yes, they are going to be part of some commercial sets.
Before you can ask, Rhannon, YES these will have backs. The only sets that I do that don't have back is when I use other people's artwork.
;D

I am not sure of your question, CBL? (It could be the language difference between US and Canada, eh?) I don't work "with" Rev, but we are doing a project together. I do this frequently. I have worked with nearly everyone here at one point or another... I have done figures with Adam Souza, sets with Billiambabble, Dramascape, Dark Skull Studios, Torn World, tested products for Squirmydad, DAve Okum and Tommygun. I guess I am the Paris Hilton of papercaraft. Rev and I go back a ways (I think our friendship started over an argument over bare mid-drifts). SInce then, we are great friends. Here is a sneak peek at the figure. (Now, I really must find that dropship that I promised Gilius I would texture. And then, get back on the sets with Jaggedjaw...) Attachments:

Not a serious question Kil, it is just you mentioned Revgun and I realised I hadn't seen him around lately. I check out the members section and he last posted in Nov. but he logged on in April (and now yesterday!) so I thought I would see if I could get a rise out of him as I miss his banter, along with his ass. (Nope, that is never going to get old)
I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
Cheers!

Dude, that was MY line... You didn't even comment about the figure... Ok, I will fill in the blanks for you... "Hey Kil, that looks great! You and Revgunn do a great job when you team up. So, does Rev's back hurt? He was obviously carrying you on that figure..." Hey! (yes, if you don't comment on my posts, I will do it for you)
