Ok, it's here! So i downloaded the free Fae is Foul set from David Okum and the related cutfile: cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=fantasyadventuregsd&thread=4710I printed the set in b/w on standard office paper, then open the cutfile with the Silhouette studio, put the paper on the sticky carrier sheet as seen in the screen, put it on the cutter, pushed the "feed" button (the one without grid) set the blade at 1 and click on the "cut" button. Then the Studio asked something about the "align mark"... which i did'nt had on the print. So i removed that option and start the cutting. The machine started cutting way too high (perhaps the same measure of the "front" part of the carriers sheet. I tried to stop it but i wan't able to abort the job. I pressed the pause button on the machine, removed the blade, and let it continue that wrong job. In the end, the paper did'nt detach from the "glue" on the carrier sheet, and had to peel off all the remains of the paper. So, pls. help a poor guy: 1) what should i have done instead? What is the right way to cut an "unmarked" print? 2) what are the sets that have the right "mark" on them, and how should i cut them? 3) That "sticky carrier" bother me. Have i to use it always? Why it is so "strong" on the paper? 4) A lot of the sets are measured for Legal paper. While printing them is not a problem, cutting them could be, as i have "no control" on where acrobat print other than the "center" checkbox. HALP!

I have an older Silhouette SD, but I'm guessing the process is the same.
First, if you're using the carrier sheet that came with the cutter, then make sure you feed it in with that option. On my machine, I can "Load Media" (which means load without a carrier sheet) or "Load w/ Carrier".
You can't cut a print that doesn't have registration marks. When OldSchoolDM shares his cutfiles, for example, the process has to involve exporting a PDF to a PNG or JPG image, opening the cutfile, inserting the image, lining up the image with the cutlines and then printing from within the studio so it prints the image WITH the registration marks. Without that, the machine won't be able to accurately line up the cuts.
The carrier sheets do tend to be very sticky. The first couple of uses, I find they are even too sticky with cardstock or photo paper. But after a couple uses, they seem fine for me. If they lose their stickiness, you can wash them with a scrubber sponge and warm soapy water. Let it dry, and it'll probably be plenty sticky again.
An alternative to using the carrier sheet is this - I shoot a TINY bit of spray mount onto cardstock, then attach what I want to that. I "Load Media" and then cut.
Regarding paper sizes - if the registration marks fit on the page, and you're using a carrier sheet, you should be OK. Some folks might have reg marks placed on Letter paper, and folks using other sizes might have to cope with that.
