Nine is a good age for learning to work with the models and for gaming. Good luck with that.

Hi, I'm Gary in New Jersey. Dave Graffam directed me to this forum. I'm retired and spend some time each day creating card stock models of mostly medieval structures. I either build ones I've downloaded or create one from scratch. Some of the models I've done are posted on my web site and you can see them by going to PacifierCafe@weebly.com. I'd asked Dave a question which he said would be better answered here. I'm currently using a program called PhotoImpact Pro 13 for scratch creation of my models. However, the program is no longer supported and does not run well in Windows 8.1, so I am looking for other software to replace it. I cannot afford Photoshop so I'm hoping someone can suggest a more economical program available. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

GIMP is a free Photoshop alternative that you should take a look at. There are a fair amount of tutorials out there for getting to know the interface. Youtube is a good resource for learning techniques, too. Great stuff at pacifiercafe.weebly.com - thanks for sharing!

gary9450My jaw dropped - those models are amazing! And I didn't recognize a single one... Are many of them custom designs? What do you do with them once complete? Gaming, RRs, display?

I agree with WackyAnne, Gary9450. Beautiful work, are they your own creations?

Hi folks, I'm eran. I just started doing paper terrain stuff for my RP group about a month ago, and I guess I'm kinda hooked, as the ~2 GB of stuff to print sitting on my computer can probably attest.
Stay shiny.

Hi, my name is Lucas. I like paper miniatures since I was a child. In the picture below there are some hand-drawn minis (front only) made in 19??, there are some biscuit miniatures made in 200? and some of my recent miniatures. English is not my native language (I'm brazilian), so sorry for strange phrase constructions.

English is not my native language (I'm brazilian), so sorry for strange phrase constructions. Fixed the link for you (apparently Proboards won't allow re-sizing images in its code). Again, welcome, and no need to apologize for "strange phrasing" - your English is excellent, and we've many hardcore members whose first language is other than English. Only question is what you mean by "biscuit" - do you mean bisque pottery perhaps? Fired clay ceramics?

WackyAnne - Yes, I think the word is bisque pottery (seeing images for this name). Translators didn't help me with biscuit but you figured out the right word. It's like a clay to craft artisan work. Update: The wikipedia changed the portuguese page "biscuit" for "Cold porcelain" when I clicked to go to english - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_porcelain

Awesome biscuit models there. I did something similar not too long ago with the fancy oven bake clay, but the simpler stuff would do it every bit as well. Is it still a cardboard warrior if it is made of paper mache?
Welcome to the forums.

Hey. I'm Daveybird. My old screenname was Slimyscaly, but I got board of that and now I'm Daveybird. I like working on new board game rulesets, and paper figures, especially animal-like people.
