Have you checked out squirmydad's steampunk vehicles yet? He's got them for sale on RPGNow under the name Mayhem in Paper (see Cog Cruisers), and a few others in the Forum hoards and on the old Models and Miniatures in Paper site, and even his own site. Patrick Crusiau (sp?) has some minis that would work, and madarchitect has an award winning mini we are hoping he'll release soon. Check out a whole page of steampunk goodness from MMiP here.

Howdy, all,
My name is Buck and I am an old gamer playing D&D since '82. I have recently gotten back into making paper terrain. I also help run a charity convention in Cary, North Carolina called The Fantasy Gamer's Conclave (kofl-games.org). I guess that's about it.

I will post more about the Conclave. I'm a member of the local RPG meet up and the TSS, a local historical war games group ,so I may have run into your gaming buddies if they still play.

Hi there everyone. I'm newly arrived, just posted for the first time to Vermin King and Dungeon Mistress: I'm part of "Edificios de Papel" and just registered and logged in to thank Vermin King for his kind backlink to our site. We are sorry that files are huge, but we were not sure to succeed handling so many single files, 6 files per model - this would mean 300 files every 45 days. We'd love to keep on enlarging the list of papel models, so we decided to put them all together in 1. Restrictions by Deposit Files forced us to do so too. Please be certain that we are constantly looking for improvements to our users. We are also grateful to Dungeonmistress for her kind words, much appreciated! We are so sad to learn that you have troubles with the model. Please let us know about your issue, we couldn't understand quite well why you're saying that you're getting "the cut files"? We'll do our best to help you. Hopefully I'm not breaking any forum's rule by stepping into this thread. Alternatively, we're fully available through email (edificiosdepapel@gmail.com) or through the comments left in our site. Thanks again for your support, we are paper model lovers and hopefully we'll keep on designing more stuff you can enjoy - we do struggle to bring into paper new buildings, so your suggestions and comments are more than welcome, they will help us learning what paper models to develop. ©2014 Edificios de Papel - edificiosdepapel.blogspot.com

Hello everyone, a long time gamer here who is just getting back into it again after several years away from the hobby caring for my elderly Mum. While I enjoy assembling, converting and scratchbuilding plastic and metal minis as well as painting them I've never been quick enough at it to field entirely painted armies and usualy end up with lots of Legions of the Grey on the field of battle. Some years ago when I was still regularly going to a local wargaming club I was asked to join in a battle set for two weeks time and when I asked how many points worth of minis to bring I was told 2000pts. And along with that information the parting comment was, 'You're an Elf player aren't you? - be nice to see a nice big army of Elves for a change.' Panic! Most of my armies were set up around a 1000pt maximum because before joining the club I'd been mostly wargaming with my children and we'd mostly play short skirmish type games. Yes I had Elves, but what a mix of different makes and paint schemes they were and besides that I was seriously lacking in some troop types. I'd never really thought about paper armies before, but I had been making quite a bit of printed paper terrain to use in games with my children and some of it was really nice and had attracted favourable comments at the club. Soooooo what I decided to do was make myself some artwork and print myself off 2000pts worth of Elves. At the time I was interested in the arms and armor of the Silk Road which led me to creating an Elf colony army around a Silk Road theme. What particularly made my mind up was not knowing how to make an adequate printed paper chariot so I went for War Elephant proxies. I made up a dragon by enlarging and modding a piece of clip art (and I did the elephants the same way too), but I didn't really want to use a dragon because of the points cost, so I tried to make some Great Eagles and failed miserably. Time was running out so I grabbed a piece of clip art for a flying insect of some kind, blew it up larger and did a quicky tidy up so it didn't look too horrible. The night before the battle found me frantically cutting out and basing up a spear-Elf regiment. And then I realised I'd done no artwork for mages! Clipart for two little butterfly winged faires was turned into a pair of minis in virtually the raw state and at last I had my army. War Elephants, Skirmishers and 'Mages'. Archers with Standard Bearers. Silver Helm Cavalry. Centaur Light Cavalry. Artwork sample for she-Elves with spears. Unused left over bits and bobs. Unfortunately the battle did not go my way. I'd never fought UnDead before so made some silly mistakes; My two little fairy mages managed to blow themselves up with miscasts right from the get go; And that spear-Elf regiment I'd laboured over the night before failed their nerve test and ran off the table in the second turn. After that it all turned to custard pretty quickly (sigh). BUT everyone at the club liked my printed Elf army and thought it was a really great way to get an army together in a hurry; - so in a way it was a kind of a win for me I still have my paper Elf army and they look as good as the day I printed them off over ten years ago now. Unfortunately due to hard drive blow ups & etc I no longer have my original artwork for my Elves, but I do have some of the left over off cuts from the A4 printed sheets. I suppose I could rescan them and rework them to freshen them up as I do really like the minis I made for this army. Now that I'm back with the hobby I puddled around a bit with my old plastic and metal minis, - only it wasn't long before I started to have a look at what was available in the way of PDFs for download as I started to put new armies together. The response from mainstream gamers I talk to on various wargaming forums has been somewhat underwhelming when I mention paper minis so I thought I'd come here and find some like minds who know how much fun you can have with paper minis. (Deep breath) So that's my introduction, I hope it wasn't too long and boring.

Sadly, a lot of miniature wargamers seem to have a blind spot over paper minis, which is both their loss, and somewhat irritating to those of us with more open minds to such concepts. You're not alone in finding this lukewarm response elsewhere... Your elf minis are glorious! If you can recover/reconstitute/recreate them, I'm sure there are lots of folks here who would welcome having more "realistic"-proportioned elf warriors. And if you're thinking of marketing them, maybe on the OneBookShelf sites (DriveThru RPG, etc.), there are also plenty of people here who could help you with advice (especially on what problems to avoid!). Plus it would be great to see other types of minis from you in a similar style. From what your photos show, the elves already would make a fascinating, contrasting, addition to those from PERMES ( Mesper on this Forum) - who also includes male and female elves in his sets - and who uses a similarly naturalistically-proportioned mini style, for example. As for your intro being "long and boring"? Not at all - perfectly fascinating

Welcome, wildagreenbough! You did a fantastic job in record time, I'd wager - very impressive! I think, too, that you'd find many here who would be happy if you someday rescan and retweak your artwork. I've two boys of my own, and have started a little RPGing with the older one (8 yo). How old were your kids when they started? Do they still play?

Welcome wildagreenbough! Gald you came to us! I, for one am very impressed with your elf army. What scale are they? They are simply beautiful!May I suggest that if you decide to rework your mini's, think about offering them in in different scales: eg: 15mm, 28mm and such. (I am personally hoping for 28mm!) Have to say, I am particularly taken with your elephants and cavalry and archers and...oh heck! I like them all! Great work! Excuse me for this, but I can't help myself! Here's another talented lady to join us! Our ranks are growing boys, watch out!

Thank you very much for the welcome Unfortunately my children no longer play. They were pre-teens when we used to wargame together, but now very much adults in their mid to late twenties they've lost interest, but don't mind at all that I'm still as keen as ever I was. My Elves are 28mm which is my preferred wargaming scale. I have tried smaller scales, but flagged them away as I like to actually see the minis I'm playing with. I'm very touched that you all like my Elves as I'm not much of an artist and most of the work on them was done by cutting and pasting the basic drawings in MS Paint. Losing the original files was a blow, but at least I've got enough material left to try and recreate most of it. Because I like Elves I've already downloaded the PERMES Elf PDFs as well as the Elf bundle deal on this website. I must say that the quality of artwork that's available now is seriously impressive and makes my old Elves look a bit dowdy. I used to play using the Warhammer ruleset, but just lately I've been investigating Mantic's Kings of War rules and I'm putting together a Forces of Nature army using mostly 'Imperfect' minis which I think are delightful. Edit: Thanks for those links squirmydad, I'd seen the Fantasy sampler, but for some reason had missed the other two. I'm seriously thinking about putting together an UnDead army so I can have some 'bad guys' to fight against, but I'd like to get the FoN army completed before I distract myself too much with another army.

Welcome wildagreenbough. I really like your Silk Road Elves, it is nice to see a different take on an elven army. Any chance of seeing your Sprite army again, I really liked the whimsicality of it, or were those files lost also?

I am just learning the very basics, but I haven't done anything near as impressive as you have. Your figures are not 'dowdy' at all. And, I like that they are mostly B&W which makes it easier to color them myself (I can't afford the ink for my printer, so I print for free at the local library in B&W and color by hand at home). You could also offer a colored set for those who can print in color. Check out the tutorials page on this forum, squirmydad has some great tips and tricks there for designing your own. And the good folks here are always ready to offer sound advice and constructive critism. Check out Aelore's Magical Emporium in the Gallery to see what I'm talking about. That's what is so nice about this forum, it is truly a community of friends who help one another! So, welcome Friend!

Sad to say nearly all of that army was lost forever when my hard drive died, though I still have some bits and pieces and probably could revive them as well.

Thanks dungeonmistress, - they certainly were a fun little army and featured such delights as a War Hedgehog among other things. Have you tried re-filling your printer cartridges? Back when I was doing a lot of paper terrain I did this to save money.

I did that for a while, until my printer started sending me ink error messages. I took the refills back to where I bought them and they refused to do anything about it.Since then, my finances have become so tight that printer ink has become a luxury item. I hope to be able to buy a new printer that requires cheap ink this summer. In fact, I have my eye on one now. Truthfully, though; the hand coloring is kinda fun.
