Hello folks
I stumbled in this site:
sites.google.com/site/anageofswordandarrow/home
which offer a free skirmish ruleset. It's still in "beta", anyway what catches me about it are the clean mechanics and the "focus" on teaching history.
So i started to look what armies i have to play it. What i need are two armies with various kind of infantry and at least one king of cavalry.
More, they need to be made of paper, scaled to 15mm, and, if not from the same author, at least similar in stile.
Well, seems that it's an hard task.
The only two complete armies i have are the OneMonk High elfs and Undeads. Now, i like them from the bottom of my heart but even if the game will work the same, would you use undeads and elfs for an historical game? the first question my friends will rise will be "what powers the undead have"?
Even if i could use the elfs, i have no opponents.... Labrat figures (both humans or orcs) are great but still far from building an army. Old onemonk sets are'nt enough (the arthurian knights are "alone", and the various human "warbands" does'nt look like an army at all
So, jump to RPGNOW and see...
There's Permes great Macedonian set, which is a whole army. Sadly, the Persians lacks for a cavalry (i don't even know if they had one! All that i want are two "good looking/same period/balanced armies" ).
His crusaders set also lacks the appropriate opponent army...
I repeat, i know i could play the game with post-it labels with the unit type wrote on it, but we're all 'cause we like a bit of aesthetic and "illustration" on our tables.
So my question is:
where can i find two appropriate, historical armies, from the same artist, to play a Swords and Arrows 15mm skirmish game? I can go with low fantasy army also, as long that their existence don't scream "there's magic needed!!!"
The "same artist" thing is just 'cause i like a bit of ... "coherency" on the game.... what i mean is that, while i love (as example) PERMSE and OKUM figures in the same manner, i'll never play that figures in the same game, 'cause the styles are so different.
Thanks
Oh, and if you all great artists would like to "complete" your sets with the right opponents, i will be soooo happy
