My original intent was to not design my own paper miniatures. I saw Papercuts 2013 thread though, and figured I might as well make the attempt. Plus, this seems like its a pretty cool community, and I would like to contribute what I can. Im still in the brainstorming phase. Im making an army of Ants. I'm thinking about just calling them the Colonials. This is going to be a learning project for me. I have never used GIMP or Inkscape before, but If I can bumble my way around Blender, I think I can probably handle figuring them out. Im going to post my progress so far, in case anyone has any suggestions. Having never designed a paper miniature before, and having only made a few so far, I want to know if I'm making any big mistakes before I start work on the actual miniatures.

The Designing Figures and Free Design Resources threads here might have a few things that may help. I think there is a few threads on scaling, how to do front and back artwork, and also links to free textures. The Designing Figures thread also has some topics on Gimp.
I wish I was half decent at drawing by hand, Lol. I don't know too much about Gimp and Inkscape but I know they are similar to Photoshop and Illustrator which I have a little more knowledge in using for texturing, Lol.

I ended up rushing these a bit to get them into Papercuts. I threw out the armor, and radios to save time. It just means they are the militia now instead of soldiers. It was a good learning project though. I want to try a few other things first, but I may come back to these ants. I would like to do a better job of it. For now though, you can see, and grab these in the Papercuts Multifigure section. After the contest is over I will add a black border, and make the basing tabs a proper size, then I will post the updated version here.
