Anyone else playing this? I just recently bought the PDF and I am really liking the rules. In the past GURPS was my go to game for multi genre gaming and I really like the ease of the Basic Roleplaying Playing stuff but Savage Worlds just seems really slick and provides a fairly simple mechanic for some very nifty cinematic storytelling.

I enjoy Savage Worlds. Its a good generic system. Could use a BIT more flavor in the dedicated campaign books, but it makes up for that by being exceptionally easy to run.

Savage Worlds is my favourite gaming system. Got to love those bennies. One of the guys I game with doesn't like the magic system generally, but he likes it for Deadlands. I'm running a magic-less campaign right now.

I haven't got to it yet, what is the counter bar across the bottom of the character sheet for? I took the PDF and added form fields and I was wondering if I should put check boxes there or something.

I have an older version so I don't know but most SW character sheets have an ammo tracker somewhere. BTW my group has two major house rules that we find make the game better. One of the problems that people talk about on the discussion boards is players hoarding Bennies because they want them to Soak damage. We use two colours of poker chips. When you spend a blue (regular benny) to do something exciting (ie not soak damage) you get a white chip as change. The white chips can only be used to soak damage. Some of us reduce the starting number of bennies to two when we are GMing with this modification and some of us do not.
The other thing we found that was not "fast, fun and furious" was sometimes you spend a benny and it doesn't really help. We have tried two solutions to this: A benny is an automatic ace (which some of us feel is a bit too powerful) or keep the best number (wild die or skill die) from your first role and add it to the best number from your re-roll. This has the risks that two truly crappy rolls in a row wastes a benny.
Anyway, enjoy the game!

I am approaching now to this game system.
In recent months many kickstarter campaigns in which I participated are based on it. Weird Wars Rome, Interface Zero 2.0, Achtung! Cthulhu ... so a few months ago I took the explorer edition ( plus a few settings ) and I'm rereading it now.
It 'a great system and allows me to vary between settings that I like ( modern-horror, retro-space sci-fi, cyberpunk, steampunk ... all ).
My mistake ( and my great regret ) have been overlooked and underestimated this system for many years. My fault. It is a very complete RPG system that allows everything.
In these days, but unfortunately muted, is coming out of the first edition in italian language. Too bad that I donรฌt like very much the first settings that accompany it ( Deadlands ).

My group loves this system except for the magic seems under powered to us sometimes. The magic really seems to work in Deadlands and the Solomon Kane variant also works well.

I had a lot of fun with savage worlds for a few years and only stopped because I moved and my game group dissolved. And an unfortunate TPK in the first fight with a new group that made it seem lame to them. There are quite a few strange worlds to play in, too. So much so that when I ran a generic fantasy game, it was said that it did not feel like Savage Worlds because there was no weird twist.

My group and I made some characters but I am still reading the rules before I sit down to play.

Actually, the way the rules are organised is my biggest beef with the game. Stuff just isn't where I expect it to be. Maybe it is just the way my mind works, though.

I have to agree, they seem to put the cart before the horse in some cases.

It works to a pretty good extent for me. And it looks like a great time to get a pdf of my favorite setting, Slipstream, with the price down to less than ten bucks. I'm a fan of printing and binding my own books (that's paper gaming, too, right). I'm thinking I may be revisiting my stick figure sets, or making new sets of figures in a more filled out style for the games I will run, and I'm thinking of doing a few bits of paper terrain for the rocket ships and a few locations.

Please share your new figs with us! I have to say, I always loved your stick figures just as they are. (There, I said "love" on Valentine's day: mission accomplished!)

Here's the first of a set for my friend. Just a bit of modding from the bunnies, but I thought it was a good joke for her. She is asking me for some more "Mythos" kind of monsters and such.
