Reaper Miniatures Bones II: The Return Of Mr Bones! on Kickstarter ends in 4 hours, big reveals, BIG PICS! Highlights: Dragons Don't Share II - $35 for largest dragon this KS, plus 3 piece ruins, plus 8 adventurers! [expected to retail for $100 in early 2015] Khanjira, the World Breaker! - $25 for largest mini in KS, a tarrasque-kin [expected to retail for $70-$80 in early 2015] or there's also excellent bases, flat on one side, lipped on the other, plain black, comparable to D&D or Pathfinder pre-painted minis. A bag goes for $10, made up of either 50 x 1", 20 x 2", or 10 x 3""!! You can pledge for as little as $1 to hold your place, and up your pledge for add-ons until December 31st through their pledge manager and paypal. Otherwise, you're stuck. Check out this link that gives you a breakdown of each set, and mouseovers with larger images, often painted versions of the original metal figures, and gives costs for metal figure (where not a new sculpt).

Here's a pic of them together - this is the kind of thing you can't easily replace in paper craft!

Hi endial! The good news is that once the pledge manager is up, I believe Reaper will allow new people to buy in; they apparently did that for Bones I, at about 25% higher than the Kickstarter prices. I'll let you know, posting here, once that happens. The material is a plastic developed specifically for Reaper's Bones line. It is akin to plastic used for prepainted minis such as those from WizKids' Pathfinder line, and to the stuff Dwarven Forge is using for their new tiles, but I believe it's more flexible. But, that is just what I've read. I've never actually seen or felt one - the only minis available anywhere near me are Warhammer 40K (blech), the aforementioned Pathfinder pre-paints, and HeroClix. I've been eyeing Reaper's stuff since June, but have so far found the paper minis to be a far more palatable and doable option. This Kickstarter is my first foray into paintable minis, and if it weren't for the great deal (especially on the dragon/ruins/adventurer set!) I'd be sticking exclusively with paper minis from here on out. What I have already is a few Pathfinder pre-paints (often a let down, and I don't like the random nature of their packaging), and some HeroClix which need little-to-no conversion for my purposes. The latter will probably how I learn to paint

They take paint really well, I have some tips on my other blog about working with them. I had a bunch arrive that were tweaked and bent but after a hot and cold shock bath they "popped" back into the correct shapes, which was pretty cool to see. Some people are painting them without primer, but you still have to wash them in warm soapy water to knock off any mold release residue. The pvc LOVES superglue, they're easy to drill and pin, cleaning the flash needs to be done with a sharp blade instead of a file. The material is softer/more flexible than the HC minis are made of. I've been reading cleaning/prep/painting tips on the forums, and through many of the comments on the Kickstarter itself (well, the tiny %age of the nearly 100K comments that I could find and that were useful). I think it'll be a lot of fun, rather a learning curve, and be a hobby in itself. Fortunately, I can use many of them unpainted until I get around to them. I'm most excited about the dragon and ruins. $35 for a set worth $100? I'm almost inclined to get four - one for traditional European mossy castle, #2 for sandy Crusader ruins, #3 & #4 for my boys. Extra dragons and adventurers I could sell off to subsidize the rest But for now it's Core, 1 Dragons Don't Share, and some paints. Mouselings, a Kraken, extra bases and paints will await spare money between now and New Year's Eve. Hopefully there are few to no "must-haves" in papercraft and digital downloads... Though I do desperatly need some yellow toner &/or ink after Halloween preparations... EDIT: So did you end up picking up anything in the KS this time around? So this is where the pie is hiding!!!

I bought the core and the first add-on.I'm considering some of the other add-ons but I know I have a fair bit of time before I have to commit.
