Hey all,
I've been working my way through making cutfiles for stuff on the onemonk.com site, and tonight I ended up making two different files for the Fey Princess standee. The first one I did was crazy detailed - so much so that it was actually a little bit of a chore to edge it. So, I made a second version that was dramatically less detailed.
So, I'm wondering. I typically prefer really detailed cuts that have as much negative space removed. What do you other machine cutters prefer? Do you prefer just having it cut out quickly and be easy to edge? Or do you like to have minis cut out that you couldn't have done by hand, even if it means a bit more edging work?
I'm not sure it'll change my style of cutfile making, but I sure would take it into consideration. Maybe in the long run, if the cuts seem too fiddly, I'll make a second, simpler version to satisfy both.

Detailed, for sure for me.
Otherwise I would hand cut.

I've (re)made some cutfiles and this is how i've done them: the "negative spaces" should be removed until a thin permanent marker can edge them. When the inside corners are too narrow for the tip to enter (think at it as a 1~2mm diameter cilynder) or the whole space does'nt allow it to enter, then that space should not have been cut. This also means that tiny negative space should be cut making an "easy shape to edge" rather than "following the shape precisely". Then i draw the most smooth curves, with the less nodes possible... it seems to me that it makes the portrait faster and more silent
