Hi Folks. I've been silent for some time but recently I managed to find a few hours to make another experiment with the Codex Manesse material. The Court miniatures are still my focus regarding the Codex Manesse stuff but I just needed needed to make something diffrent and so I've made a CM church you can see below. You can get it here, and read a bit about it here. Im very curious what do You think about this model and the idea of manuscript 3D models in general.

Very nice. As the Mad 'Architect', it only makes sense that a building should have been inevitable.
Thanks.
By the way the link to read about it is not working

I think it's pretty cool! I might make it as a display piece for my desk at work, along with some of the figures. Are you interested in some cutfiles? I'll have to re-layout the PDF in order to fit between registration marks...

I love it! It's a great background piece when one wants to have the wonderful minis out on display It'd be a tad odd in a regular game session, but serves well alongside the uniqueness of your minis. Have you considered adding more terrain, foliage perhaps? BTW Vermin King and others, the reading material can be found on his blog's main page @ minilabmodels.wordpress.com/

I really like it. I don't know how to use it, but I picture kids playing with it.

I don't know how to use it, but I picture kids playing with it. My idea is to make enough CM stuff to allow making a whole setting "in style". I know the scale of this building makes it unable to work with any other avialable models. On the good side You'll be able to cover much wider area on a single table (or display shelf) . To make it work in a game (whatever game it would be) some adaptation of distance scale would be required to adjust the gameplay to the imagery and style of a manuscript. More terrain will come including foliage, fields, towers, castles, town shops and other but it is a song of the future. More miniatures will come first.

It's gorgeous!
I'd guess it'll be like trying to create 3D models of Escher drawings in making more, but I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
The general style means it can also fit to an extent with Dryw The Harper's minis, which have a "hand-drawn medieval" look about them as well.
Personally, given that I started out using paper minis to represent other planes, it seems ideal to me to have more buildings and terrain in a matching style.

At the beginning I was surprised your figures. Medieval icons? It is quite ridiculous. But with time I came to the conclusion that it is very cool. Great idea. Your style is atypical but just it is beautiful.

To make it work in a game (whatever game it would be) some adaptation of distance scale would be required to adjust the gameplay to the imagery and style of a manuscript.quote] It could work for a board game, where movement is by spaces and not incremental scaled movements. The other option would be to scale down the figures so they match the size of the people in the windows. I am still working on my CM version of TSR's "Camelot" but I don't think it needs a 3D church. OK so something happened when I tried to trim the quote. The first paragraph is the actual quote, the second paragraph are the thoughts I want to add.

In the process of trying out layered PDFs to support old and new reg marks, I oopsied and put the square mark in the wrong corner. It's been that kind of day... I'll try to get them to madarchitect tonight though, after I've had a chance to test build them.

Board game ... hmmm. I can see that. Sort of like Life, where you do the curvy paths, only this time it is like a quest for the goal. Some of the squares could be combat squares, where your character battles whatever appears on the combat card. Of course you would have to have a combat 'sub-board' for the skirmish. The church and other pieces would be placed on or around the main board for decorative effect. Other squares earn you gold or fame or true love or a following. I think it would have promise, but I don't think I could put it together. The die or dice could be printed to look like it is from this era.
Okay, I'm done rambling

Just finished the test cuts and all is good. I've sent the files over to madarchitect for him to repost. Now, I could be wrong, (and forgive me if my terminology is off...) but the roof over the nave doesn't seem long enough to properly clear the polygonal apse. In GIMP, I busted out the old measuring tool, and it looks that the roof is off by about 30 pixels on both sides. I was able to get it assembled, but the side you don't see in the picture doesn't quite line up right. Thanks Krzysztof for another great addition to this line.

It should work better now. Thanks for pointing that out.

Here comes another 3D Codex Manesse model. Not exactly architecture (but sort of...) its a medieval Pavilion based on CM Winli's tent. You can get the model here (click on the image at the bottom of the page) in layered PDF file, with 3 scallop options and opened or closed entrance. I hope You'll like it. Enjoy.

In my current situation of needing to do displays for the nursing home, I find myself really wanting more in this series.
I can practically see it now. Top shelf I'd set up either four small vignettes or one larger vignette flanked by two smaller ones. Bottom shelf would be a collection of castles. These are so very nice.
