I've purchased both the full colour Gryphonrider set and the Aspect set and while I really like the full colour set and think it's wonderful I find myself somewhat at a loss to know what to do with the Aspect minis. I dare say I will figure it out and find something in the way of a role for them, only I'm wondering what ruleset you might've had in mind when you created the Aspect series of minis.

I've wondered that, myself, but came up with a few reasons of my own to use them one day. The purple for nighttime or invisibility, the red if bloodied, green if poisoned... But most often I'd think what you would want them for is if you had more than one player wanting the same figure or army, to distinguish them. Or, similarly, if you wanted themed colours for a boardgame like Dungeon!

Thanks for the suggestions, I did think about using the Shadow ones to represent summoned spirit warriors, but that was as far as I got.

Not wishing to pre-empt any reply Mesper might make, but my understanding of the basic concept is to use the Aspect minis either as markers for units affected by magical effects of different types (or mundane ones - morale markers, for instance), up to an entire affected unit, to indicate magically created or summoned units (from a different plane, say), to show troops with different powers/abilities to the "usual", as statues (possibly ones which could animate at a later trigger-point, perhaps, when they might even be swapped for normal-coloured minis), or anything else you can think of - including the suggestions you and WackyAnne have already made that I haven't duplicated here! They're not designed for any particular ruleset, certainly. Just something to help stretch your imagination a bit further

Sorry for being late... Firstly - thanks for buying this set! But then I fully second WackyAnne and wyvern - couldn't put it better, so thanks guys! <...> I'm wondering what ruleset you might've had in mind when you created the Aspect series of minis. Well you made me feel kinda guilty... as in fact these FANTASY aspect minis really are "out-of-any-strict-rules" concept... Good thing is that you might use them according your gameplay wish/needs; sort of tease and challenge for user's imagination? But then the general idea behind FANTASY SERIES ASPECTS is that these are support versions of BASIC sets (full colour with accessories), so kinda ADDITION and/or SUPPLEMENT (or in some cases even REPLACEMENT) to the basic set figurines. Thing is that not all users/gamers would accept such a big/download-heavy set, then combining both basic and aspects versions would imply higher set cost, so I decided to split these versions (then please note that Aspect sets are slightly cheaper compared to basic full-colour sets), so there is a choice. BTW you can find some similarity within HISTORICAL series - there are "FACTION" sets, which differ from basic sets mostly with uniforms/standards/crests/emblems colours - these sets are intended mostly for wargamers (so gamers can field 2 or 3 similar armies, with the same unit-stats but which will (tabletop-wise) differentiate). -- On a side note: I can think of another one use of Aspect sets -- you can MIX minis and accessories (if provided) between basic and aspect sets! For example you can use aspect accessories (like mostly shields or banners) as an addition to the basic minis - in order to ACCENT/STRESS some specific status (or temporarily behaviour?) of particular character/mini or even whole group/set of minis -- i.e. full-colour basic minis + let's say "blood/rage" red shield (instead of standard shield) -- kinda basic characters which are UNDER some specific spell (let's say sort of greenish "live-root" or reddish "blood/rage/scourge/magic effect?). So IMHO having both sets (basic and aspect) you are receiving a lot of ADDITIONAL options - you can not only use ASPECTS as some sort of different / summoned / different state / etc. characters but you can also freely mix minis and accessories from both sets (these are dimension and scale compatible). Actually some of my gaming-friends are even over-using these aspects (assuming they have some magicians / warlocks / wizards in ranks) -- I saw at least couple of battles when some units suddenly turned into shadow mode (invisibility) end escaped when attacked by overweight magic enchanted or blood-rage units etc. Anyway hope I was able to clarify/put some light thus explain myself:) ?

Thank you very much for the explanation I'm a keen fan of your Elves and have purchased all your Elf sets as I love the colours and refreshing and original style of your minis. I particularly like your warbeasts set with all the additional mod pieces included and when I saw the Gryhonriders I knew I had to have those too. I suppose it was my stuck-in-a-rut too much playing by one ruleset brain that failed to see the potential of the Aspect figures, but I must've seen something in them because I purchased them. The more I think about it the more I'm beginning to see the potential of the Aspect figures. I'm putting together a Forces of Nature army at the moment so immediately the green Aspect figures are starting to look useful and I've taken note of your suggestion about shields and banners too. Thanks again and please continue with the cutting edge ideas (pun not intended) because this is where paper minis have it all over traditional painted metal and plastic minis.

Here is FREE sample (download while available!) of aspect mini + mundane shield and banner. But then you can also do exactly the opposite: use "normal / basic" mini and add aspect accessories - depends on gameplay and/or preferences Hope you (and other CWF users:) will enjoy this one!
