When Cthulhu goes to war ( WW2 ) ... and when Devil Pig Games' "Heroes of Normandie" meets Modiphius' "Achtung! Cthulhu" ( Modiphius on RPGNow and CBW forum thread ). Two excellent products by two great indie producers. Imho. And I am proud and very happy to have participated in both of these kickstarter projects ( the products' quality that I received is really very high ).
By these comes another very great product: "Shadows Over Normandie"
Initially conceived as a mere HoN game expansion, now it has been updated and improved and it is a stand-alone boardgame.
...
When Heroes of Normandie & Achtung! Cthulhu meet for a boardgame, it gives you Shadows over Normandie, a new epic tale of World War 2.
Shadows over Normandie is a squad/platoon sized game based on the Heroes System and is totally compatible with the Heroes of Normandie boardgame.
The game features three opposing armies controlled by the players. These forces include the German Cult of the Black Sun, the ancient Deep Ones and the US Rangers. Each force is made up of infantry, tanks or creatures and of course, heroes and villains. Each unit has its own set of unique characteristics and skills depicted on the high quality chunky tokens.
Devil Pig Games are currently in development of this game for release Christmas 2014, but would like to extend the print run AND add in more content free of charge for backers of the original Heroes of Normandie Kickstarter who chose to receive this game.
The Game:
Each turn is divided in three phases.
The first phase is about giving hidden orders to your units.
These numbered counters allow the players to choose in which order their units will act to surprise the enemy!
The second phase is all about the action.
Shadows over Normandie is not one of those old fashioned games where you sit, waiting for the other guy to finish his move and fire actions. In Shadows over Normandie, players activate units alternatively. This gives the game its heroic feeling. It's fun, fast and… bloody.
The third phase is the Reserve phase.
All units that were not given orders are allowed to move. No unit will be left untouched, although these units do not get to fire.
Scenarios
A few weeks after D-Day, a US Ranger Company, lost in Normandie, has to confront the terrifying power of the Nazis cult of the Black Sun. allied with an ancient Deep Ones tribe, they’re preparing a dark ceremony to summon the great Cthulhu. The Lost Battalion is the first chapter of a great campaign and you have to be a part of it!
The scenarios will tell you this story. They become increasingly difficult, and are designed as tutorials to teach you the game mechanics. Each brings a new tactical challenge. Objectives lead players to make tactical choices, some will be successful, others… well, they won’t.
Soldiers will fight, while heroes or vilains have specific tasks to fulfill. It’s a bridge between a wargame and an adventure game.
See what other people have to say about the Heroes of Normandie game so you know what to expect.

Sadly monetary exchange damages a bit European backers but even more Americans. But despite this, in the end, however, the product will be worth a lot more than you paid. I swear
Ciao.
