OH NO!! not another one!!!
calm down and put your wallet away ! it's not time yet, so stop worrying about how much you can pledge before your next paycheck.
It's True though I am gearing up Temporum Oblitus to be the best Kickstarter EVER!! or at least the best one I can do anyway.
Now their are a lot of people who are curious about how Kickstarter works and have no idea about how to go about doing a successful one... myself included.
I figured since I'm going to be going through the process blind I would show you all what I did to prepare for it and sort of journal my experience with it from beginning to end so you can all see what it's like and learn from my mistakes, because if their are mistakes to be made you can be sure I will make them all !
ok so my first step was to ask all the people I know what they know about Kickstarter and their replies were mostly "I don't know anything" to "ask *incert person who just said they didn't know anything* " so that was a fail.
the next thing I did was look at Kickstarters that were successful and make a list of all the things they have in common.
1. they were all "almost done" they just needed a little shove at the end to finish up. (for the most part the K-starters that were still in concept stage didn't do as well as they were to much of a risk )
2. they didn't beg for money. instead they were presenting and opertunity to get in on something that is going to happen anyway we just thought you would want to be in on the ground floor.
3 they all had a SLICK video that really showcased not only the product but the ability of the creators to get stuff done and be organised ... this will be a problem for me (organisation uugghh)
4. the art was clean and made the page look good and not cluttered.
5. the tiers and goals were all very concise. people knew what they were getting with each tier and what their money was going to do for the creator.
6. the stretch goals were really awesome and pertained to the product....
The most unsuccessful K-starts were the opposite of one or almost all of those things..... so first we hit the check list.
Temporum Oblitus is almost done it just needs some editing and artwork and it will be finished. (though I'm re-vamping it for 28mm it's still complete in the designed I just have to
re-calibrate and touch up some art here and there)
I will be releasing it later rather than sooner if I don't get any money from a Kstart but if I get the backing I need I can make T.O. fantastic!
the video is going to be hard to do, I have to get enough of the game printed so I can show some game play.
I'm currently working on the artwork and the tiers here's what I have so far! it's still a work in progress their are some vehicles that are in the process of being re-vamped but this is the over all lay out...
the tiers are going to be broken into $10 increments.
the first tier will be $10 the foot soldier tier and it will give you all the rules dice and both the Core of Humanity and Free Frontier armies so you can play.
the next tier will be $20 the specialist and give all of the foot soldier and you get the complete Ruskin army
the next tier will be $30 the Elite warriors and give all of the foot soldier and the specialist and come with the complete Obb army
the next tier will be $40 the Commander and give all of the foot soldier ,the specialist and Elite warriors and come with the complete Source army
Stretch goals will include terrine pieces like
Gun mounts
small bunkers
landing pads
re-fueling stations
all the way up to large fortress if I get enough from backers.
sooooo there is it now I will keep hammering away on the art before I start on the Video ....
One of the biggest take away lessons from this post is that the pre-K starter is a lot of work!!
