Well, now that I have the time, I wanted to join in contributing. Also, I wished to help flesh out the sci fi sets.
It also goes along with me using the Terra Force sets for Imperial Guard.
So, here is the beginning of my first model, a Sci fi Walker. Its going to be 2.5D, the body will probably be put together by slot like OneMonk's Hybrid Warriors. However, I wanted this to be a little more posable so when it comes to the legs, they will be segmented, you fold them together and glue using the joints, more like a paper doll really which makes it a little harder but you should be able to have your walker stand, run, squat, stand on its tippytoes, etc.
Here it is, got the basic leg done, working on the body..
Please let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions.
My only comment is to watch out for tiny cut out areas, like around the hose and in between the lower leg tubes. On my Ripper Robot/Trike, I left some small areas around the driver's chin and I just end up coloring them in black instead of cutting them out. And in the mouth of my Puma Warrior/Avatar it's the same problem...
That is a great start! Your attention to detail is awesome! I can't wait to see more progress on this!!

2.5, my inspiration is also coming from the Pirates and Star Wars pocket models. I did not want to do boxes because it would be kind of stepping towards OneMonk's TF Mecha 3D project. I wanted this to be a smaller model.
The way I see it, the 3D TF Mecha would be equivalent to a Tank/Heavy weapons platform. My walker would be more like one of those small jeeps, made for darting around for speedy on target fire support.

Right, got some more work done. Here is the Walker so far, torso and legs. I am going to work out the joints next and get some weapons to go with it. The way its going to work out is weapons can be jointed off the shoulder (the circle joint) or be placed under the chin.

I am using www.inkscape.org/. I know some use gimp if they aren't using something commercial but I just cannot get used to it. After looking up different programs, I found Inkscape and have been playing around with that and getting good results so far.
I had to redo the middle leg joint, the old one looked cool but the new part is easier to work with. I also took what WaffleM said into account and widened the area in the lower legs where the cable is, if it is still too small, its easy enough to cut it away.
I will post an image of a put together walker soon.
When it comes to the pieces that have the little half circles for the arms, when the part is folded over and glued, you score the line with the half cirlce and fold them out so it forms a T, the end piece will look like a full circle which will match up with the shoulder joint or the end of the upper arm joint.
When it came to the feet, I wanted to add a little more stability so there are little side toe pieces that will fold and attach over the circle on the foot.
There are lower arm sections for each gun, even if you don't use the shoulder pieces you can stick them under the chin or atop the back before gluing the cockpit together
I want this model to be very posable
Please let me know if there are problems with the files.

Here are some images of the model being put together as well as finished, I hope it helps, I know I am not the best when it comes to explanations. But I mean well.
The basic hip, see how the edges are folded up to form a T on either end.
Torso and hip.
Legs from parts to assembled. When it comes to this I have to apologize, you will need to cut the middle leg section into two parts, I thought I made it wide enough but just folding it over, it won't fit over the lower leg section.
Arm from parts to assembed.
And finished.. Whew.
And to answer onemonkeybeau, Yes, I have a few more ideas. I want to make a sheet with more weapons that can be used on the walker as well as making some heavy weapons on platforms. No doubt one project will be to make a new version 2 of the walker which would include a more 3d torso as Rhannon suggested.
This has been my first real attempt at a model and I think its good though I also think it may need a little more work. Suggestions are always welcome
PS: Woohoo, I rate my own projects page.. Now I have to work on this more. And I will.
For the record, the above images are just a bare bones walker used as a proxy for a IG Sentinel which usually only has the one weapon. Its easy enough to add the other arm, also, you can put weapons on the top and bottom of those arm joints. And using the lower arm joints, you can put them inside the torso when you glue it together to mount weapons under the chin and over the back.

Unfortunately, a crash on my main pc made me lose the original larger images.
I will see about taking some new pictures of the completed model and post those larger if you like. Right now, most of my time is trying to get some good work done on some more guns. Should be able to post something preliminary on that under the name 'Gun Range'
