I have been working on mini's and this seemed the place to start posting them. Some feed back on what I am missing or doing wrong would be great. I might have jumped the gun on posting to the monthly hoard thing with my other one. So anyways please let me know what you think.

So you've met my next door neighbour then? I like what you done with the three eyed squid and I would be more than happy to have such a mini in my collection.

Interesting beastie. As currently set up, it would only work as a "walking on land" mini. Maybe worth experimenting to get a version in an undersea swimming pose? Very few miniature producers seem to have tried this, but perhaps nobody but me plays undersea adventures.

I like the cruciform pupils and the line work on the face. I can see the stylistic relationship with the pale man you posted in the hoard. I think it is a good style for paper minis.
I am not familiar with the game stats of this particular monster, but in general I would think that octopi and squid would have longer tentacles. You could shrink the head a bit and have the tentacles curl up and around the head, if you wanted to keep the figure to a certain size.
On the other hand, with your "large head style" it could be that the figure looks foreshortened and the head is really reaching up off the table towards the players. That could be an interesting effect from time to time.

cowboyleland Well I wasn't really thinking it was an actual squid or octopi maybe an early step in a Beholder evolutionary chain. I tend to name all my drawings that have tentacles "Squid something". I made this for a game I GM. Its just a dungeon creature they will have to fight eventually. You trigger a good point in my head. Weird monsters without a reference look wrong. I don't think you are right with your assessment of the creature but my mind wasn't there at all because I was thinking beholder. wyvern I like this idea. I will work on something.

cowboyleland, wyvernI made the tentacles longer and made it look more like it is floating. I also did more detail on the back so that the tentacles switched correctly.

Looking good! I like that "free-floating" appearance.
Now all we need is more creatures in different poses - swimming at speed, say, shooting out an ink jet (assuming that's what such creatures can emit), perhaps holding something (treasure? weapons?). Squid and similar real-world creatures can also change colour, so maybe that might be something else to consider (love the idea cuttlefish "talk" to each other using such changing skin-colours and patterns, though that may be beyond what you'd have in mind for this creature!).

Printed. The floating style one is far too delicate.

Or a piece of clear plastic sandwiched between the layers.

Cyano-acrylic glue does wonders for hardening fiddly bits, too

Here is a Tiefling Warlock. I think I am better at monsters than humanoid things. edit: At least I have more fun with the monsters.

I think he looks good. By all means do what you have fun with, but I definitely like this humanoid.
I have always had trouble with shading on the computer. I hope I can learn from your three tone style. I really like the combination of realistic proportions and heightened/simplified shading.

Hmph. All of my thumbs-ups didn't seem to apply when browsing from my phone. I've fixed that now. Thumbs up for all of the minis you've made - they're awesome. I really like the floaty dude with skinny tentacles. If he's a bit wobbly to hold himself up, consider making the tentacles overlap the supporting ones more for support. Alternatively, I'd consider adding some transparent sheet between the two layers for more support, and that'd let me have more material at the base of it. Oh, and I'm all for non-humanoid beasties!

this is a cliff edge I have been working on. I will add better pictures when I am further a long. The idea is to make a sort of hangy cliff thing to display some of my minis.
