This is a build of the Elemental Shrine by Mystic Mountain Productions and available at www.rpgnow.com/product/139558 I used semi-gloss paper to bring out the colors, and sprayed each sheet with Matte finish spray. The lava "fountain" was printed with the lines layer turned off. I also made the cut-files with the interior segments cut apart instead of scored (my experience building interiors told me that perfs glued to perfs == tears) which works great, especially hiding internal tabs. That was the only (very minor) mod. The base is mat board and the floor has foam-core in it. It turned out wonderful, and I highly recommend using a cutter for this model - with literally dozens of parts-with-backs the precise cutting helps tremendously. Even then, this was a challenging model that was worth the effort.
My plan for this model is to use it with my D&D 4e campaign that has now reached Paragon level and the characters are about to do a bunch of planar travel! This 4-elements portal will be in a remote location and require a ritual to activate each portal. I'm thinking about what I'm going to do for a kitbash of what appears on the "other side" when each of the four portals is used. But for now, here's some pix of the model!

I wonder what been used to do ground. Which material/cardboard? Matte Board (the stuff you use to mount images in frames.) I printed that tile on self-adhesive mailing label to intentionally get the flat look - no shine for the ground. Thanks! Other than clean cuts, a not-too-impatient-build, and the choice of papers, the credit all goes to jjensen's model.

Here are two designs for the elemental plane of water side of one of the Elemental Shrine's portals... Which do you like best? Mark I: In two worlds... Mark II: The door shimmers (made with vellum)...
What do you think?

Mk I, The Elemental Plane of Earth (or any forested place...) I'm not sure when I'll do the Elemental Plane of Air - I'm waiting on the delivery of a flip mat that I'd like to match... Here's the template if you want to make your own... Shrine Portal Cutlines.studio3 (56.81 KB)
