Good morning. I have been building Dave Graffam models for a few years. I absolutely love building them, they look great, and they are a big money saver over resin builfings. Thankfully the default scale is 25/28mm as I use them primarily for Bolt Action because I have never had any luck scaling them down. I used to own a Lexmark Pro that I recently replaced with an HP 8630, but may be taking it back to Office Depot. It appears the drivers for this model weren't written to support for scaling. When I open the printer dialog box there is not a scaling option within the size options. I take it the is an issue with the printer and not the PDF file. Can anyone suggest a good printer that's priced around the $150 are? Thank you.

You could also scale pdfs in GIMP. It is free software.

tigerjon: Have you tried using a different paper size and the "fit to paper size" scaling option (if the dialogue box allows it)? It's a much less precise method than the percentage scaling option, but reducing the (European) paper size from, say, A4 to A5 reduces a 28mm/30mm scale model to roughly a 20mm scale one (actually about 22mm, but depending on what miniatures you're using it with, it can work with 15mm/18mm figures as a close approximation to that scale too). Alternatively, you may find there's actually a percentage scaling tool somewhere, by checking out some of the other options (if any) from the main printer dialogue page. With my Brother inkjet, it's hidden away amongst one of the "advanced options" pages, for instance, and took me a while to find the first time.

Wyvern! My Brother brother. I have been very happy with Brother printers since I got my first in 2001. You can do scaled printing, excellent print quality and print speed. If I have one gripe, if you are printing something that has a lot of yellow, you need to do a head cleaning first or you might get lines. I've had my current printer for three or four years now. My first Brother was a laser printer that lasted nine years. And Brother printers have four wells for ink. And they are reasonably priced.

The scaling options not being available could be due to the software, and not just the printer. My printer "also HP" doesn't have scaling options in its default print dialog, but I can still scale if I use PDF-Xchange viewer or Adobe Viewer. They have their own scaling options.
