Hey guys, I'm looking for a good Sci-Fi skirmish system. I already have Savage Worlds, but I'm looking for other systems as well. Any recommendations?

Mutants and death ray guns..... same system as SOBH. It's really good, fast paced and easy to pick up, loads of one monk figures are perfect for it. I recommend a mutant animal gang! You'll rarely win, but the landshark and mad cow can't be missed

I'd love to say Gangs of Mega City One as its a GREAT game. Similar to Mordheim but a bit more tactical. Problem is, it is tied like an anchor to the AD2000 (Judge Dredd) universe. Their is no way to do custom character races or anything and its completely tied to the campaign system, so useless for one off games of stronger warbands. Its a great game, but it is only useful for its attached setting.
Anyway, MDRG is solid as well. Troop builder available on the Yahoo group.

Thanks for all the replies. I have in fact decided to use Budget Battlefield. I'm going to try and post some stats for the Terra Force troops soon.
MDRG has been on my short list as well, so I'll have to check that out.
Thanks guys!

Ah yes... Budget Battlefield... one of the first skirmish games I ever downloaded.
Microtactix is responsible for making me the card stock junkie I am today!

I liked the SciFi power armoured squads that were available for that game. They were just too expensive for me to consider the purchase. Actually I think most of MicroTactix stuff was just a little too high, price wise. But I had tried the CompactCombat sampler game that was available for free. For quick and easy, fast play skirmish I'd recommend: Mutants and Deathray Guns (real cheap) Necromunda(it is free now) 5150 (solo/coop) - (fairly cheap) Combat Zone (fairly cheap) GunCrawl (solo / coop ) print and play complete system. For ones with a little more meat: StarGrunt II (it is now free) Infinity No Limits(free) Defiance

Don't forget chai reaction/chain reaction 2 by two hours wargames. Basically a generic skirmish game using the same rules system as 5150..........but now free!!!!!! So you can see if you like it before splashing out on 5150

Have to give my usual warning about 5150. The point system is useless. Covers nothing but gear, so any alien abilities are not pointed out at all.

Two hours wargames ahve just released Chain reaction 3 as a freebie. If I understand it rightly this is essentially the basic rules in 5150 without the 'period' specific stuff. you can find it here..... www.angelfire.com/az3/twohourwargames/CR3.0.htmmags

I actually just got a chance to print out the WarEngine rules and read them yesterday. I'm really interested, now. I still need to look over the troop builder and force builder docs, but the main rules are to my liking. I can definitely see some sci-fi goodness with this rules set.

I don't know why this just came to mind, but after re-reading this post I remembered that the Power Armor Troops had two vehicles that might be useful for the TerraForce if they were re-colored: the anti-grav tank and the Troop Transport. Come to think of it, they'd have to be scaled up a hair as well. MicroTactix was the first cardstock model company that I got into, even before they started doing PDF stuff. My copies of Compact Warrior and Compact Sorcerer are still in my attic. I have almost all their fantasy stuff, which is quite a hoard. Some of it isn't quite up to today's standards, but a lot of it is quite good. I wish they were still active.
