Thanks to the many fine people of the internet and beyond I am now using my new Macbook Pro. There's a bit of a learning curve with the new OS but the public stretch reward is coming along nicely. Stretch reward? Why yes, a reward. This felt like a mini-kickstarter to me and I am incredibly grateful for all the kind words and support I recieved. So as a part of giving back to the community I'm working up a fort model for use in your desert based adventures and battles. More pics soon.

Got my 3d program running again so here's an after the fact design preview. Since all of the pieces are simple solids and flat fold-overs I did all of my initial layout with pencil and paper. The 3d version makes for a good layout planning tool though. It's all fold flat, wall height is 2.5" with a 1" parapet extension. Walls are in 3" and 6" lengths. Towers are 3" by 3" at 3" high, so there'll be a little 1/2" high transitional step to go from walls to towers. I'm also working on a tall observation tower (5") and some small buildings to place inside the fort. I just finished up "Shrek the Musical" and I'm looking forward to some relaxing paper-model design and construction.

First build! It's a tower unit, walls will be shorter, I need to do some little edits and then I can upload some test versions tomorrow.

TEST BUILD VERSIONHere's my work so far; all the ink-saving features are on by default (as I haven't crafted the layered pdf yet) and there are still some bits to be made to make it complete. This release is walls, towers and parapets. Still to come; -gate -observation tower (5" tall) -ladders -transitional step to go from walls to towers -little inner fort buildings *INSTRUCTIONS -cut-files for everything Have fun with this version and any feedback is appreciated. edit-> re-uploaded with less white areas blanked out.

An update! Concert and recital season are finally done for me, so my days are less wearying. I'm still working away on this, although I forgot about my layered options and had to backtrack and redo a few things. I haven't heard any feedback about the test pdf's I released so I'm assuming they worked okay for people. I have a long and relaxing weekend ahead of me so I'm hoping to play catch up and have more fun stuff available by Tuesday next.

squirmydad hey boss!!! i want to see the complete castle!!!! Me too! I am in the process of finishing old projects and it would be great to finish this one up. I'm working on "nomadic tribesmen who live in the desert" for an old project and once they're done I should be able to get on with finishing the fort.

Christmas break was non-existent this year as I was catapulted into over-time with earthquake repairs, then a hospital stay, then a glacially slow recovery, but now finally progress on the gate units; 18 variations for entrances. I don't have a projected completion date but I'm hoping to be done with this section by the end of the month. It helps that I've just finished three other large artistic projects and I'm not working on any other projects so that I can focus on this one.

Progress; door #7 of 18. This would probably go faster if I hadn't made so many variants, it's steady though and I've got a kind of rhythm going.

I thought I had a rhythm going on the Pinto tonight, until I realized I created an issue

All 18 gate styles done. Now to finish their supports. I'm also making three more styles of parapets, another size tower, and two more wall section lengths. When this is done players should have a good number of options for styles and configurations, and it folds flat.

The work continues...texturing and exporting, still haven't done any builds with the new materials yet, hopefully next week.
