I can only say that it works perfect for me. I love it! I think a lot of people have it...
btw.: anyone have any experience with the new silhouette curio?

My older model SD has been a workhorse, but I have been looking closely at the curio. The double-blade feature looks awesome, especially if the second "blade" is an embosser. For my models (printed on matt cardstock) should look awesome with an embossed score line (instead of the dashed-cut.) This would reduce the amount of edging required by at least half. I am a LAZY papercrafter after all...
I'm saving up for the Curio.

I worked my Silhouette SD into the ground, many years of use, hundreds of sheets were cut, and the Silhouette Portrait has been a great replacement. I highly recommend it.

Now I just have to convince my wife Does she scrapbook? My Portrait also came with rolls of self-adhesive vinyl in different colors that I used to make custom coffee mug labels.

No, her sister is the scrapbooker in the family.

I always try to find some projects that would make my wife appreciate my paper crafting - specifically the robocutter. I did fancy 50th wedding anniversary invitations for my in-laws which went over well. I've also done a bunch of kids Halloween costume stuff (helmets, swords and shields galore!), spooky decorations, fun holiday decorations, business cards and holders/displays, kids birthday party favors and projects, etc. At this point, she sort of treats this bizarre hobby as an asset for the family, rather than purely a liability.

I'm saving up for the Curio. embossing for score lines is the way to go if the artwork allows the cutlines to be switched off. otherwise you still see a stupid line. I use an emboss pen but i usually forget about it. Last night i built the Elemental Shrine from MMP and only realized in the end that the lava would have looked much better with the embosser.

embossing? for scoring? how? what? can i do with portrait? *excited* I looked to see if the embosser works with older machines. The promotional materials said that it wasn't designed or tested for that use. I imagine that the software will be changed to allow for higher pressure, maybe? It will be awhile before I buy a Curio, so I will be watching for reports of people who try it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using proboards

Ug... I WAS gonna set up my Portrait... but I caught my kid's cold so the only thing I'll be doing tonight is curling up on the couch under a pile of blankets with my wife's laptop

I STILL haven't been able to play with my Portrait, as my Mom passed away early last week. Been so busy dealing with that stuff I haven't even been able to sit in front of my computer.
But soon.
Soon.

First things first. Take your time. Computer is not a priority now.
I remember when my mother died. It's around 20 years ago but it still hurts a little to remember.
Mourn well, heal well.
Peace
