Wow. He already sent it. One standing horse and four are galloping. Weekend is planning itself. Finish the BTTF II Delorean, Dwarf Chariot, and now Horses. Outstanding

Wow those look great. Any integration for putting minis on them or are they simply models?

Simply models, but he asked me if I thought they would be suitable for riders. 'I'd really like to see a rider on one'. I told him that my limit was probably a simple harness for a wagon. Any ideas on how to put a rider on there that wouldn't look out of place? I was thinking 2.5D, but any rider designed to work on the horse, couldn't be used for much of anything else

I need to get back to work on my rideable horse thing. The geometry's all done I just need to make some art for it.

Got started late and didn't get as far as I'd wanted. Maybe I need to order those magnifying goggles off TV. First impression is that the next horse will go together better. Fit of the pieces has been good, but they are kinda small for these old eyes. Even though I tried pre-shaping parts, it still required going one tab at a time and letting it set a bit before proceeding. Patience is the key. I'm looking at this first page as practice, but I still want them to look decent. I really think these would be easier to build, but not oversized, if they were printed at 105%. A small increase, but it should increase ease of build.

When folks are getting started in this hobby of paper models, I generally encourage them to look for models with few parts, but caution them that they need to look at those parts. Sometimes, a model is considerably simpler to construct with two parts instead of one. This is one of those cases. I will keep on with my current build today, but if I build others, I am going to make a modification. The worst part is the thin tube of the forelegs/hooves. Either build the hoof first, then the foreleg and glue where they connect. Or vice versa. Either way, one gets in the way of the other, leading to poor builds of both. A much easier way would be to have the foreleg as a simple open-ended tube. The hoof also an open-ended tube in the shape of a truncated cone that slips into the open end of the foreleg. The hoof cone needs to be taller, the height of the one tab. The hoof would be easier to build and so would the foreleg. Inserting the hoof into the foreleg also would help to get proper alignment with the ground so that the horse can stand on four legs. I guess I am a masochist for still trying to do this original version ... lol

Hmm, my computer isn't displaying images well today. some show, others don't. I did do another horse last night and used the separate hoof method which greatly improved the build for me. Unfortunately, I rushed and had a cat trying to get it the whole way through. I see that I need a new blade. It doesn't look nearly that rough at arm's length. I plan on doing one or more of these again tonight. The horse is actually done at 1/55 instead of 1/58, so only four to a page now. I'm going to do another standing one and then move on to the galloping ones.

And I got sidetracked. Worked on the Harvard House last night. Printed it up and discovered areas that came out too dark. Went to cut it out and found I left off too many tabs. And now, since I have to work on how it prints and add tabs, I want to rework the roof.
And two of the photos there aren't showing for me again today. Do all three photos show for anyone?
