I'm finishing up my March entry of a Taiwanese bamboo raft and was wondering what to do for April, and then my brain skipped ahead to July as I received an English translation of Albert Robida's "The Twentieth Century" for Christmas. Wonderfully imaginative works, many images of his ideas can be found online. The piece I'm planning to do is that fish flyer down in the lower right corner of the cover image.

Some of his ideas remind me of WilliamHeath Robinson (although Robida was knocking around first)

I moved the Steam Carriage work over here since July is very much gone on by, and here is where I was with the Fish Flyer; The Flyer still needs a seat, a rider, a flight stand and a test-build. I thought July would be much less hectic than it was, but a number of renovation projects came through the district and I found myself exerting a great deal more sweat than I had expected. I'm still getting stronger, I feel fine most of the time, but I burn out very quickly and need serious amounts of lie down and recover time afterwards. August has been feeling more relaxed and I've had the mental energy to work on paper projects again. I'm hoping to do my test-build for the Carriage today.

The Steam Carriage's first passengers; I'll attach the wheels and the control yoke tomorrow. The first build of a new design, for me, is always slow as I'm taking notes for improvement as I go. Sometimes I have the Photoshop layout active and fix things as I build. I think this model needs a driver.

Now that Papercuts is wrapping up, time to finish this puppy! "Gerard Mechanique will soon be starting their Steam Carriage service in (your cities name here)! If you're not in a hurry then traveling in luxurious steam-powered comfort is the best way to arrive at your destination." Just need to finish the instructions and a couple of publicity shots.

I haven't forgotten about this piece, I just biffed the scaling on the driver and made him Ogre sized by accident. He's been scaled down, which means the seat is smaller too, which means I still don't have a final picture for a beauty shot. Still have some instructions to finish laying out as well, almost there.
