That looks great. Simple yet effective! And I like that they use the roof tile texture. Looks like it just got another item put onto my to-do list I finished building first parts for a tower in "Osaka" style (the green roof). I still need a door for the walls (in case you don't want to enter over the roof). Here you can see an optional wall stabilizer I have added on the top edge of the upper wall (to prevent warping of the edge). It simulates the framework construction under the roof. And finally an interior shot (also a door missing). Also you get a better view of the stabilizer addition. What do you think? Any feedback?

This looks really nice, but I always wonder why designers are OK with dotted lines all over their beautiful models. People score folds with a ruler anyway. Why not just give them some reference marks just outside the model and avoid the dots?

You are right! On my upper level you see a print where I turned off the score line layer. The lower level I probably forgot. I am also adding a "folding hint" layer with marks outside when it's not clear without the folding lines turned on.
The reason why I have them is because I use them for the cutfiles for scoring. So I just leave them in the pdf just in case ...

Now those pictures are awesome sir! I can't wait to visit the samurai onto the players! I might even be inspired to kitbash a cloud island to allow the castle to move around like in some of the Anima i've seen. Cudos to you sir.

Thanks klachowski . That's a new attribute for the build and I like it We are in the process of moving back to our now renovated appartement (the fun you experience when you live in an urban heritage conservation building). So things are proceeding not as fast as I would like them to. So please bear with me if I am not replying in time or seem distracted as a whole But ... today I found some time to finishing the door texture and add an entrance. Here is a pic showing the development steps of the entrance. And this is what it looks like when put into place ... Now back to the old new place and start building furniture for my work room!!!

While testing the cut files I find that although it's easier and faster to build, the manually cut and scored parts look so much better. Probably common knowledge to most of you but I just realized that today :-)

While testing the cut files I find that although it's easier and faster to build, the manually cut and scored parts look so much better. Probably common knowledge to most of you but I just realized that today :-) I don't know that this is common knowledge at all. :-P Could you explain what you mean? If all you're saying is that hand-scoring (creasing) looks better than perforated, that's not at all controversial (and the reason I bought a Curio - so I could get hand-embossing-for-folding.) I've also tried machine scoring with the shortest blade - which produces cut-scores that have the same properties as machine cuts. But then you have to edge them. These joints are weaker then perfs, or emboss-folds. :-P Do you mean that hand-cuts are better as well? Why do you think that is? In my experience, cutter cuts are always faster, more precise, and accurate (if your machine is calibrated and your printer is accurate.) Note: Even before I had a curio, I sometimes opted for hand-scoring(with an embossing tool) for very special models, like this one (and contest entries). :-)

Regarding the cutting, most of the times the (in my case) Portrait is absolutely accurate. But then sometimes a sheet is a little off. Nothing that can't be cured with edging but still I have no idea what makes this happen. So the reason I meant that (my) hand cut are better is that I am 100% precise (but of course slower).
About the scoring it's like you said, the auto-cut "dashed line cut" folds need to be edged and are weaker. So while I an not having a Curio, my manual scoring with a blunt knife is better.
I use the Portrait mainly for development but tend to build my final "hero" models by hand. Also because after all the auto cutting it's nice to do it old style again.

Three levels of Matsumoto style. With this style I like the open flap windows on the top layer. Now I need to add weathering ...

No weathering yet but I was creating the instruction manuals. While doing that and taking photos step by step I came up with this configuration (inspired by the Temple hall). I really love what you can do with just this set alone!

Finally got some time again to continue with the remaining ornaments for the roof. The ornaments are all optional and the Shachihoko (fish ornament) is detachable for safer storage.

BTW, I will have to look it up again, but as I was looking for Vintage models the other day, I ended up in several sites that had 'puppet theater bilderbogen'. Not my normal search category. I was surprised how many oriental puppet theater figures there are that could be rescaled and then maybe do mirrored backs. They evidently were a very popular topic of Victorian puppet theaters.

"Bridging" the time until I am fully setup in my new place ... Almost done with the move. Need to assemble all the wardrobe parts we moved on Sunday and then it's just minor things ... In the meantime, my workroom is mostly done and useable so I have started on bridges for the Temple or Castle gardens! I love the patterns of leftovers ...
