The Motor Pool project is kind of a big one, I'd wager. Bigger than, say, a Hoatd of 20 assorted flat standees.

True, but I like building models and seeing how different designers do things. I'm not building all of them. I did two of the 4X4's, one of the 6X6's, the initially submitted APC (two if you count the one that was too small), the Police Tactical, and I've started on the MUT. It really helped having folks format their entries before submitting, but I still have to have at least one of each for the promo photos. I'm starting to have a little sympathy for mproteau (Paper Realms) when he was doing everything including cutfiles, which I don't do. But those little projects get me thinking differently on how to handle things, which helps me design better. If I hadn't done Herbie, I'd have never found the method used on the EZ Build Beetle. If I hadn't found it, I don't think I'd have been able to do the Kurogane. If I hadn't done the Stupid Truck, I don't think I'd have come up with a way to vary the back ends, which will come in handy on the M-ATV, which is going to be constructed as a combination of the EZ Builds and the Stupids. But these things all take time

I've got so many projects I want to get done, and crafting random models isn't what floats my boat. I mean, some models do, but most don't. So, when I was putting all the hoards together, many of the models were assembled simply so I could take a photo before recycling the paper. :-P
I wish I had hard numbers for how many people actually use cutfiles so I could complain about the things that get in the way of making cutfiles easier. If few people actually use cutfiles, then putting any burden on model creators isn't terribly defensible.

Re hard numbers: On my Patreon 50% have chosen the reward level with cut-files. I was actually surprised that there are so many. But it makes creating the cut-files easier for me now I thought I was just making them for oldschooldm

Looks like someone already made a model of it It is pretty cool, though I believe they call this 'The Punisher' And a pirate site has a model of this, but I haven't tracked down a legitimate source yet
