The Motor Pool project is kind of a big one, I'd wager. Bigger than, say, a Hoatd of 20 assorted flat standees.
Hi! I'm Harry, and I am a hobby addict. I prefer papercraft scenery to use alongside my 28mm metal and plastic miniatures, and am not afraid to mix and match my hobby media. I game sci-fi, fantasy, and historical (including Ancients, Dark Ages, Renaissance, and World War II Pacific Theater (oddly in both 28mm infantry and 3mm aircraft.)

True, but I like building models and seeing how different designers do things. I'm not building all of them. I did two of the 4X4's, one of the 6X6's, the initially submitted APC (two if you count the one that was too small), the Police Tactical, and I've started on the MUT.
It really helped having folks format their entries before submitting, but I still have to have at least one of each for the promo photos.
I'm starting to have a little sympathy for mproteau when he was doing everything including cutfiles, which I don't do.
But those little projects get me thinking differently on how to handle things, which helps me design better. If I hadn't done Herbie, I'd have never found the method used on the EZ Build Beetle. If I hadn't found it, I don't think I'd have been able to do the Kurogane. If I hadn't done the Stupid Truck, I don't think I'd have come up with a way to vary the back ends, which will come in handy on the M-ATV, which is going to be constructed as a combination of the EZ Builds and the Stupids.
But these things all take time
There are no strangers in this world, only people I haven't embarrassed ... yet!
I've got so many projects I want to get done, and crafting random models isn't what floats my boat. I mean, some models do, but most don't. So, when I was putting all the hoards together, many of the models were assembled simply so I could take a photo before recycling the paper. :-P
I wish I had hard numbers for how many people actually use cutfiles so I could complain about the things that get in the way of making cutfiles easier. If few people actually use cutfiles, then putting any burden on model creators isn't terribly defensible.
Re hard numbers: On my Patreon 50% have chosen the reward level with cut-files. I was actually surprised that there are so many. But it makes creating the cut-files easier for me now I thought I was just making them for oldschooldm

cowboyleland: Now I have seen it. It doesn't advance our hobby, but anyone with half a brain who wanted 2nd rate figures could easily figure this out for themselves so I guess he isn't doing any harm.

berneart76: well, this is fun, (not) transferring all my papercrafting sets into the cloud. The stuff I got from DriveTrhruRPG was simple with their library desktop app,but my other stuff, sometimes with multiple duplicate copies is entertaining.

berneart76: Vermin King I usually use a mix of drybrush/watercolor/photocopy and occasionally posterizing at different levels of opacity.

berneart76: Vermin King, that's similar to the enhancing that I do on my texturing. I've found that sometimes I need to scale up or scale down the image (usually by 50 or 25 percent down or 200 or 300 percent up) to make get the enhancements to look "right"

Vermin King: On the zebras, I did multiple enhancements and cartoon filters and used them at 100%, and they still didn't look that different than the photos

Vermin King: When I make a figure or terrain piece based on a photo, I clean it up and align things to look 'right', then I create another layer and do enhancing and cartoonizing on it. I then adjust opacity over the photo image until it looks good. On the zebras,

Vermin King: berneart76, do you mean giving them green or purple manes and tails? and a few piercings? maybe a cig hanging out of their mouths?

Vermin King: cartoonizing a zebra doesn't do much

ignatious: Actually I was referring to the two previous posts. I was trying to be subtle in order to sublimate the crassness. Read them again, but in Mel Brooks voice while he is winking, and nudging the person to his right.

Vermin King: Sure. Euphemize us

ignatious: would anyone care for a euphemism?

cowboyleland: We hadn't had snow for a few days. Last night the plow came down my street and did nothing but fill every ones driveways back in. Just for practice, I guess.

Vermin King: In KC we had an ice storm (with thunder sleet) the other night. Left things drivable, but last night the plow came down my street. They took all the rough edges off. Might as well have ran a Zamboni...
